“ok as long as you don't have a car”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2008

Purpose of stay was a short stop over while on a roadtrip.

There is no Hotel parking, but by luck managed to get a street parking space outside the hotel. I was then informed on check-in that we could not park there due to a market the next day and that the street would be closed. Couldn't see any signs for this and there were plenty of other cars along the street but took their advice and moved into a public carpark about a 5 minute walk away. The next day there was indeed a market but cars were going in and out without any problems, so felt let down that I had to park away from the hotel and pay for public parking unnecessarily.

The room was ok, well appointed and in a nice location with plenty of restaurants and bars along with the lake in easy walking distance. Breakfast was the usual fare of cold meats and cereals, but nothing special.

Although polite, I didn't find the staff particularly friendly or helpful (Not particulary attentive, on check out had to wait 15minutes while the barman looked for the receptionist).

It's not that it's a particularly bad hotel, just that I didn't feel very welcome which was probably more noticable considering the outstanding hospitality received in other hotels for the previous few days.

“More eye on details needed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2008

Me, my wife and our 14 month baby visited the hotel few days ago. We chose the hotel based on the reviews here and unfortunately we were not 100% satisfied. We asked for a baby bed and which was not delivered to the room before we mentioned about it. Beds were not done (only matrasses in beds) when we came back from a three hour walk in the city.

The third annoying detail was the high tech elevator ordering button on the first floor which required a whole lot of patience to call the elevator to the first floor. This is something that should have been taken care by the installation of the new elevator.

In the morning when we went to have a breakfast, most of the food had already been eaten and tables were not cleared. By the check-in we were promised that there would be porridge in the breakfast buffet, but it wasn't.

Finally, our room was on the second floor and we had windows to the park street. During the night of our check-in Turkey had won Switzerland (?) in EM football and fans were honking their horns well after midnight. Therefore we cannot recommend taking a room from first floors.

To sum this up, hotel is nicely located in the city centre (no own parking place), but we found many details which did not meet our expectations.

“Great stay at the Graf Zeppelin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2008

We have just returned from a five night stay at this hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is in such a convenient position- easy 10 minute through the lovely streets of the town to the lake.

The rooms are modern, clean and bright. The rooms we all stayed in had been modernised- laminate flooring, wood furniture- wardrobe, tv fitment, large bedhead (beds very comfortable), desk, chairs etc. The bathroom was compact- new walk in shower, toilet and sink. Very bright and clean etc.

The breakfast in the hotel is great- cereals, breads, yoghurts, fruits as well as eggs, cold meats, cheeses etc. We also ate in the restaurant on one of our evenings- lovely food. There were 8 of us in our group and we were all impressed.

All the staff we met were very helpful. We did not have any trouble with checking in or out.

One thing that I should mention (Also mentioned in the hotel's information in room)- there is limited parking close to the hotel in some bays and a small car park. However you MUST NOT park there from 5am till midday (I think) on Tues and Fridays as they hold a small market in the car park- on an early moring walk we saw a car being towed away).

Konstanz is a lovely town- beautiful. We travelled by car and ithin a couple of hours drive we went to Luzern, Stein am Rhein, Rhine Falls, Rigi. Just a boat ride from Konstanz is Meersburg- a beautiful small town with old old houses and a castle as well as lakeside restaurants and shops.Friedrichshafen is also a boat ride away from Konstanz.(Zeppelin Museum)

“Comfortable and modern.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2007

Very comfortable, very modern hotel with "family rooms" able to accomodate two adults with two children. Definitely the most "modern" elevator operations I've come across in a hotel.

Location is convenient - on the edge of the city centre, within walking distance of all of the city's sights. Friendly staff. Reception was a somewhat hidden desk in the middle of the restaurant, though it appears they are remodeling and installing a new reception desk next to the elevator.

The number of parking spaces in front of the hotel are limited. I ended up having to park two short city blocks away in a municipal garage. Not as convenient as front door parking, but not far enough away to be a hassle either.

Breakfast was very good, with much variety to suit our tastes.

The only issue - and a minor one at that - was that when I tried to check-out, the desk clerk was occupied with the breakfast service. It took a while to get her attention so I could settle up my bill.

  • Liked — Family room facilities that accomodated four.
  • Disliked — Limited parking.

“Great Stay - Great Staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2007

The hotel is in the perfect location, with a great staff. The bar and restaruant is full of local residents, and a great place to meet. The breakfast they serve is top shelf. The rooms are updated and comfortable. Hotels in Europe are space limited, so you must have proper expectations. The Zeppelin restaraunt has old world furniture and benches, which we were welcome to use and enjoy. They open the entire front so you can enjoy the outdoors. Just a short walk to everything. They helped us with all of our needs, and we will return again to this hotel.
