MrReaves and I found this place by walking around the city after we parked in one of the parking garages. We needed a place to stay for one night on a long road trip, and this fit the bill.
Parking was very close, and relatively cheap for being in a central location along the water. Our room was on the 3rd floor. Not much of a view, but we were able to leave our windows open all night without much noise from the surrounding areas. The bed was nice and firm, and our bathroom was very clean and well stocked. The hotel also had a writing desk in the corner with loads of touristy type information about the lake and things to do there.
We walked around by the lake, which was buzzing with people. It was a lovely night, and it was also July 4th, so lots of Americans out enjoying the city. We stopped and had a beer at a couple of waterfront cafes---it was like playing musical chairs, it was so busy at all of them.
We ended our evening at an Italian place on the corner across the street from the train station. Our pizza and calzone were divine!
The receptionist was extremely helpful, inquiring about our parking situation to make sure that we were getting the best deal. She said that they do validate parking if you stay for 2 or more nights, but we didn't pay that much to begin with, so no big loss for us.
We only ate breakfast at the restaurant, but it was really good. Lots of variety--both hot and cold--and the staff refilled and refreshed constantly. As for other meals, I can only say that the restaurant stayed packed for the entirety of our stay at the hotel, so it must have something going for it.
