I was on a last minute wirlwhind business trip from Los Angeles to the Messe Stuttgart. Could not find any hotels near the Stuttgart Airport and Messe because I booked the day before my arrival but found this pleasant hotel only 10 km away in Sindelfingen. I have stayed at a Mercure Hotel at the Frankfurt Hotel before and knew was happy with that hotel as well. This Mercure Sindelfingen Hotel was nicer and larger than the one at the Frankfurt airport and next door to a small Messe area near the Mode Zentrum. It was also only a 5 minute walk away from a really nice indoor shopping mall that I had a great time shopping at. By the way there are 2 Mercure Hotels in Sindelfingen and this is the one on Schwert Str. next to the small Messe. The room rate was high but it was Tradeshow week and they were completly booked out on some nights. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff and the staff in the breakfast area. The wake-up call at 4:30 AM on my departure day was also very prompt and the gentleman from the front desk even phoned to make sure I was awake since I told them the night before that I was worried about missing my early flight. The hotel has a cozy looking Restaurant and Winebar onsite with nice outside seating on mild nights. There is also a nice wellness area with sauna, fitness room and large indoor pool. I forgot my bikini but could have used the Sauna without. My room was a very good size with comfortable queen size bed, soft sheets and down pillows and comforter. Large French Door style windows that can be opened with mini balkony to step out on to see the sunset. Nice minimalistis ultra modern style that felt very comfortable. Even my parents in their 70's loved the modern style. Large desk, drawers, nice lighting, decent size bathroom with everything I needed and a strong shower head. Lots of towels, 2 bottles of free mineral water, gummi bears on my pillow and I was a happy camper. The TV was not a flat screen but it worked fine to catch up on German TV shows and news for me. They could replace it with a flatscreen with better picture quality however. The second day my parents drove in from Munich and the hotel allowed us to add an extra single bed in the room and only charged $10 for both of them and $17 per person for the very good breakfast buffet. I slept on the roll-away bed and it actually had a very good matress and the same cozy bedding. They also added lots of extra towels and more water and gummi bears. I am originally from Germany and live in California with some European withdrawls. My eyes got very big with all the wonderful fresh bread, pretzels, cakes, smoked meats, cheeses, james, fresh fruit juices, musli. Some of the things I miss living in America. There was also a section with all warm breakfast items American style which I did not eat as I wanted to concentrate on the things I don't get in the US. Did I mention the amazing bread, super fresh pretzels and Rubarb marmelade!!! They had all sorts of gourmet coffees coming out of a machine. My caffe latte was very good. I would stay at any Mercure Hotel within a heartbeat again. We where all very pleased. I want to add. There is a very stylish upscale Italian Restaurant just up the Street called Milano where we had a fantastic dinner and bottle of wine.
