I just returned from a week in Ludwigsburg for business and spent 6 nights at the Nestor. This is my first experience in a hotel in Germany, so I was not sure what to expect. Minimalistic would be the word I would use when compared to a North American hotel.
The hotel itself is very nice. Large inviting lobby, several elevators, nice bar and restaurant and friendly staff to greet you. My room was 365 and it was clean and functional. The bathroom was very small, with a stand up shower, sink and toilet. The bed sits about 1 foot off the floor and consists of two twin mattresses side by side with a small comforter on top. There is a small desk, bar fridge stocked with wine and beer and a flat screen TV. The room was cleaned every day, but the two towels did not seem to change, and the one small bottle of shampoo was never replenished. Very minimal room service. The room does have a hair dryer, but no iron or coffee maker.
Breakfast was in the restaurant and was a buffet with meats, cheeses, cereal, fresh breads, fruit, etc. A good selection and fresh. I only went there two mornings, but on check out I was charged 16 euro a day for all six days. Watch your bill. I only used the restaurant in the hotel one night and found the food good, if not a little expensive. The service in the restaurant and the bar was top notch.
Internet access was expensive and slow. It cost me about $75.00 for 5 days of access and many times I would lose the connection.
The location is very good for the downtown section of the city. The Christmas market was on when I was there and it was a short 10 minute walk from the hotel. If you are ever here in December be sure to visit the market. It is truly an excellent time.
Overall a good time. My biggest concern was the hard and short bed but I would stay there again.
