“Bad restaurant / bar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

The bar / restaurant (clubhouse?) was a big disappointment. It's prime position on Main Street in the Silver Star village means they get plenty of business without having to try very hard to retain it. The server was surprised to see us back for a second time - but that was the only flicker of attention we got, since the serving staff are mainly teenaged girls whose boyfriends are waiting for them at the bar - and they, naturally, get all the attention.

The food is miserably average and very expensive for a poor plate of food. There is not a great beer or wine selection - but, since the clientele is mainly under 21, I'm sure that's not usually a problem for them.

Busy 12-2pm when the skiers take a break, dead as a door nail all other times, as far as we could make out. Not really even worth a "quick beer and a bite to eat" stop-off.

“Convenient and spacious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

I stayed here for 2 nights in August so that my son could go mountain biking. We had an appartment which had a double room, a sleeping alcove with bunk beds and also a sofa bed. The bedroom had an ensuite bathroom and there was a shower room too.

There was a sitting area, dinng area and kitchen. The bedroom and dining area had access to the balcony. We also had complimentary parking in the underground car park. There is no storage facilities for mountain bikes in the accomodation, but the resort was so quiet that we could leave it in the garage.

There are some hot tubs on the roof but they are chlorinated. It was clean though. Some of the other parts of the resort had hot tubs for each appartment.

It was spacious (by european standards) and clean, although a little "tired". The kitchen was fine. It was a nice temperature inside but it was between 4 degrees C and 20 degrees C outside. We had a view down to the mountain.

The resort is VERY quiet in the summer and many of the restaurants were shut (we could not even get breakfast on the Monday). I would strongly recommend bringing your own supplies as the little shop is expensive and the stock is very limited.

The biking and hiking were good. The hiking lift ticket only allows one ride up which I thought was rather expensive (11 canadian dollars) but on the first trip, I walked down to the mountain bikers lift and they were only validating the bikers so I got a "free" lift!

The walks are not that long but the view from the top is spectacular. There is a lot of wildlife and I spotted wild deer, horses, chipmunks, squirrels and bears.

“Don't book too early!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2010

We stayed at Silver Lodge Resort in Vernon for 2 weeks. Lots of skiing but the weather was foggy and little new snowfall. Too many people. I recommend that you book from Monday to Friday after President's day, which is in February sometime. Forget about the weekends because there are too many kids. I noticed that parents like to teach groups of children how to ski at this time. I wouldn't book early because of the potential for disappointing ski weather. We had 2 days of sunshine at the end of our trip. The suite's cookware was of cheap quality and the cooking utensils were teflon coated, not my preference . Fortunately, we brought our own pots and pans and wished I would have brought my stainless steel cooking utensils, as well. The room cleaners rarely left dishwashing soap and enough coffee filters for the coffee machine. They hardly vacummed. The private hot tub is chlorinated which irritated my skin. On the bright side, this is the best place to stay because it has ski in/out and a very nice recreation facility. One week is long enough and check the weather first before booking your room. Cheers!

“Chilcoot Lodge is part of Silver Star Club Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2007

My family (husband and I + 12 year old son) stayed at Chilcoot in January this year. These condos are part of the Silver Star Club Resort and have a brilliant location in the village. Almost ski in / ski out - just a short walk to the slopes! The decor was a little tired but on the whole our 1 bedroom + sleeping alcove was very adequate (but not luxurious). This was our second holiday to Silver Star in the past four years and we enjoyed our stay although our last two trips to Aspen have spoilt us for smaller resorts like SS. Restaurants - Clementines was brilliant for New Years Eve dinner and would also recommend Long John's pub.
