Three of us stayed three nights at this B&B. As the family room was already booked, we ended up booking two rooms - my husband and I stayed in a room with a double bed and our daughter stayed in a twin room next door. Our daughter was hesitant to stay by herself when we booked the room, but it was not a problem at all, as the B&B had such a homey feel and she was just next door to us.
The rooms were small but adequate - after all, we were really only in them later in the evening and sleeping. There's a nice sitting room/dining room with a couch that could be used at any time, so that more than made up for the smaller rooms. The rooms are cozy and nicely decorated. The bathrooms were clean and everything worked well. The rooms were very quiet - there was a couple with a baby staying in the family room and we were not bothered by any noise. Also, Jo and her family live upstairs, but we never heard a peep from anyone.
Breakfast was delicious, lots of selection, including fresh raspberries and yogurt. We really liked the dining room/sitting room and it was right across the hall from our bedroom. The dining room had french doors that opened onto the patio, where chickens were strutting by. It was lovely to have the doors open and enjoy the fresh air.
There's ample parking right outside the building.
Jo was a wonderful host, very helpful and friendly. She really went the extra mile, getting up very early to make us breakfast on the morning we had to leave for the airport. We had suggested she could just leave us some fresh fruit and yogurt in the morning, but she got up and made us a full breakfast, which was really nice of her. Also, there was one night when the power went off about 11:00 at night for some reason. We were still awake and, being in the country, it was pitch black in the room. We had to wake Jo up and she very kindly came and fixed the problem and was not cross or irritable in the least (which I might well have been if someone woke me up).
We were out sightseeing until near dusk each night and went for lovely evening walks when returned, walking out in the pasture with the sheep. We loved the country feel - green pastures full of sheep, fields of grain, the tree-covered lane, cats and dogs, chickens and a rooster walking around, horses in the barn, and rabbits in cages.
Also, the whole area is filled with such beautiful scenery - the lavender fields were in full bloom when we were there - spectacular!.
It's a short drive in any direction to wonderful little towns filled with thatched-roof cottages and beautiful gardens. Larger places, such as Oxford and Blenheim Palace are only an hour or so away.
In other words, Snowshill Hill Farm B&B is perfect in every way.
