“perfect beginning to the holiday”

My husband and I just returned from an idyllic stay at Hotel Baie des Anges. We cannot give you any "cons" because there WERE none. Everything about Annie's hotel is so lovely. Our beachfront room was beautiful, spotless, spacious and well equipped. It included an open air kitchen with sliding windows, a large patio with table and chairs where we could have entertained at least 6-8 guests for cocktails, and the bathroom was large enough so that both my husband and I could use the sink space at the same time, AND we could store all my lotions and potions and makeup. Perfect!
Annie was the perfect hostess; she was not intrusive, and she respected your privacy----but if you needed her advice or assistance for anything, she was right on the spot. The attending staff were fabulous each and every day. From breakfast to evening dining, the servers were more than attentive, with sweet personalities and 5 star efficiency. We ate at their restaurant, La Langouste, many times during our stay and were never disappointed!! Our room was kept spotless each day, and we never had to ask for additional towels or soap etc. Just a perfect 10 days, in a perfect location, with perfectly gracious hosts. We already have our reservation for next year and are looking forward to staying in the same spot. We have been visiting St. Barth's for over 20 years and this was the first time we didn't stay in the St. Jean. We were cautiously optimistic about our change, and so very happy when we entered the premises of Baie des Anges. Thank you so much, Annie and staff, for a terrific vacation. We'll see you in 11 short months!!!

“Still A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

I would certainly agree with all the positive comments from previous writers who described their experience at the Hotel Baie des Anges.. Annie and Marie were wonderful, friendly and every other superlative you might choose to use.

The small hotel rooms are efficient yet comfortable. All have views to die for. I would select the "Deluxe" accommodations because of the huge open-air balcony but all the other rooms also have balconies and splendid views at a more reasonable price..

The continental breakfast each morning was simple but tasty; other items could be purchased for an additional cost. Either way, it was yummy.

It is the best deal on the island but still expensive. Bottom line, we loved it.

The Ile d'France Hotel down the beach is splendid for drinks and dinner. La Langoust at the Baie des Anges is also very good.

The beach is gorgeous but was a little windy while we were there so we also spent time at other beaches (less windy) especially St Jean and Shell beaches which had chaise lounges/umbrellas and good restaurants.

St Jean Beach at La Plage Restaurant was our favorite hangout. Brice the beach guy took care of the lounge chairs/umbrella's, drinks, beer, water etc and small food items; the restaurant served more extravagant fare from specials to whole lobster. Every dish was exceptional. Down the beach a few yards, Jean-Michel has the water-toy concession with every thing from wind surfboards, Hobie Cats, snorkel etc. He is a great guy who became a friend. Another fun part of this beach is that the airport runway ends (or begins) at the sand so you see and feel the two engine aircraft that service the island - they are a "trip" onto themselves.

St Barths is french and very pricey, period. However, it is warmer than Paris and every bit as fun. Excellent restaurants include Nikki, Eden Rock and Bistro at the harbors edge (great burgers and Pizza; Fred will take care of you). Better yet, we had fabulous dinners at both l'' Isola and Bonito.

This mountainous eight mile island with hundreds of villa's hugging the rocks and overlooking the vivid blue-green Caribbean salt water is breathtaking. A car is a must, the roads are steep and narrow but well marked but pay attention to other drivers trailing close behind, not to mention the motor scooters. They are scary.

The townspeople were courteous, helpful and friendly Everything was first class but it comes at a price. Heaven is not cheap but worth every euro.

We loved it all; we had a fabulous time. C'est la vie.

“Perfect for a reasonable price!”

Spent 6 nights there, had a lovely time.
The rooms are spacious, clean, airy, the bathroom is quite big as well. What's particularly interesting is that you have a little kitchen and sitting area on the balcony, which means you can prepare your own picnics, or whole meals, instead of going out to restaurants all the time, which is costly in St Barths.
Size of room and kitchen means this is an attractive hotel for families with young children (indeed we came as part of a wedding and had 3 families with kids running around... lovely but might be a bit noisy... if management reads thins, a good idea would be to put something on the doors so they don't slam!)
Breakfast included, bread-butter-jam and croissant, plus any extra can be ordered for additional price.
Beach is right there, below the decent-size pool. Restaurant "La Langouste" part of the place, but did not eat there. Flamands beach can be a bit rough and windy, and the hotel is a fair bit away from the nightlife. But St Barth is a small island and you get anywhere in no time. Rental car a definite.

“Best deal on St. Barts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2008

Wow! The Baie des Anges was a beautiful, very clean hotel right on the ocean. Our absolutely spotless room had a fabulous view and was only 30 feet from the calm, bright blue waters on the Anse de Flammonds. We had a romantic four poster canopy bed with gauze bug netting gathered on each corner (you never needed the netting--great air conditioning and no bugs).

Our deal included a car to get around the island and breakfast daily.

Annie (the owner) was there every day, and she and her staff were very friendly, helpful and a joy to get to know.

St. Barts is an expensive island, but the Baie des Anges was not nearly as expensive as other hotels, and its small size (only 12 units) made it easy to get the know everyone. Plus, it's on a beautiful beach.

The hotel's restaurant, La Langouste, was also great. The lobster, their specialty, was outstanding, but the other meals we had there were also top notch.

We loved visiting all of the beaches in St. Barts. They are remote and beautiful.

We've visited several Caribbean islands and although each is beautiful in its own way, St. Barts was one of our favorites. The arrival by plane was a treat and adventure in itself--even for those who hate roller coasters (my wife)!

Just don't plan on watching t.v. in our room(why would you want to?)-only two stations were available in English-both CNN.

We will return!!

  • Liked — It was right on a beautiful beach
  • Disliked — The lack of variety in the breakfast that was included (it was excellent, but always the same)

Hotel is in a perfect location, just make sure you rent a car! Rooms are very spacious, clean and quiet. This was my third trip to St. Barth and I will most definitely return to this hotel!

PS: Definitely check out La Langoste for dinner.
