We have just returned from a one night stay at La Maison Mesnil. We were thrilled with our stay. Greeted at the door by the owner, Renee, we were welcomed into her office where she gave us all the information we needed and took our payment. Yes, there are a number of rules but none of them were offensive. This is a person who takes immense pride in her lovely home and wants to have her guests honour their surroundings. I found it peculiar that she insisted on slippers or socks at all times but that was fine. She encouraged us to use the pool (3 pm to 7 pm) and the back yard. This house is 10 000 square feet! The upstairs is dedicated to the B and B and our room was huge. It had a lovely sleigh bed, an electric fireplace, and a lovely bathroom. There is also a lovely central area upstairs for the use of guests. There is a phenomenal view of the St. Lawrence River. The grounds are amazing and well kept. Her breakfast was served in a large dining area and was delicious and very artistically presented. WE had dinner at the Moulin restaurant less than one kilometer away and it was excellent. We had the menu for two which was very reasonably priced at 70 dollars for 5 courses. The restaurant is an old mill with tables outside, right beside the waterfalls. Stunning!
The only criticism I have of this B&B is that the towels and sheets were showing signs of wear but that is minor in nature. This is a place you will very much enjoy but I would not recommend it for families with young children.
