“Worst accomodation ever!”

We were advised that reception closed at 20.00. We arrived at 19.35 and found an envelope stuck to the door with instructions on how to enter the building. Reception would reopen at 09.00 the next day. We finally got to see someone at 10.15.
The apartment we had was for 2/4 people and it was tiny. There was no storage space and I had to climb over the bottom of the bed to get into the bedroom.
The balcony was rotten and the kitchen fitments were past their sell by date. The fridge was rusty and the oven took 45 mins to cook 3 part baked rolls!
There was no toilet roll holder and my husband regularly hit his head on the hot water tank above the toilet.
Need I go on? This residce looked fantastic from outside but was a complete let down. We wanted to turn round and go home.
The scenery and the Vercors area is however stunning.

“Small Small Small”

Firstly I will say that the property looks nice form the outside, on the inside however it is a little run down on first appearance,
Arrived late at night and could not find a light switch anywhere as they are all located very low down on the walls.
Apartment we stayed in was the worst i have ever stayed in. The room was so small and dark that you a double bed barely fit in the room and moving around that to try and get out of the room was a challenge at night not to get another bruise on your shin. Linen looked as if it was made out of left over curtains, blankets looked like they had not been cleaned in about a year.
I stayed on a ground floor apartment, where the garden is not maintained, grass tall and garden water logged from rain, no drainage seems to be in place. Only one socket in the apartment worked, tv did not work either and was only enough hot water for one person to have a shower, which unfortunately i found out the hard way as i was the second person to have the shower.
I am not sure on the condition of any of the other apartments in the complex as i did not get to see any of them, but if the standard of mine was anything to go by i would not be interested.
There is one positive about the establishment, the pool and jacuzzi is very well kept and maintained which was good to see. All in all it is a place i would not recommend or stay in again

“Great Girls Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2005

My Girlfriends & I spent a fantastic weekend of pampering and fun at this wonderful hotel last march. The site is awesome, the building is charming and the staff were helpful and unobtrusive. All of the members of staff we met spoke english, and were willing to brave even scottish accents! The Residence le Diamant offers plenty to the stay-at-home type, given the heated pool, jacuzzi & gym facilities. The beauty therapist offers reasonably priced (..!..) treatments in a pretty small but well equipped beauty room. For the braver traveller, the resort itself has plenty to do and the village itself is v. picturesque. We loved it. The local supermarket is (being the only one in a 30km radius) super expensive, but after a dip in the pool and a few glasses of vino, we forgot our whopper supermarket receipt and just had a good time. From Glasgow we travelled to Stanstead, then on to St Etienne de St Geoirs (the Grenoble airport) with Easy Jet & Ryan Air. The connection times were difficult, but it was worth a mad dash across Stanstead, and the 4 hour wait on our return trip for the memories we brought back and the wonderful weekend we had. Hope this helps, Mandy, Yvette, Helle, Cathy, Elizabeth, Joan, Suzy & Nicola.

“Living in a box”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2004

I stayed at Residence Le Diamant in Jan 2004 using Interval International points. The hotel facilities were ok. Had a steam room, sauna, pool and Jacuzzi. The place looks a bit tired inside and could do with some TLC.However the room itself was terrible. The bed was an apparently standard 6 feet long - not much use when you're 6ft 2 and worse the bed barely fitted in the bedroom - it was so tight you could only walk round one side of it - a bigger bed simply would not have fitted. The kitchen was of average standard - but badly fitted with grotty discoloured seals making it impossible to clean properly. The fridge would come on intermittently (as it should) but shake rattle and roll loudly enough to wake the dead if they happened to be sleeping in the lounge area where there is a sofa bed. The oven clock made a perpetual din too.The bathroom was decent but the bath was a "tub" not a bath - it was very small - and yet the water tank in the toilet was not big enough to fill the bath with hot water. A shower was the only option. The tank itself in the toilet is sited right above the bowl so a tall person has to lean forward while sat on the throne - but not too far or your nose will be pressed against the closed door. Wiping involves either twisting your neck to the side or simply opening the door!!!!!We came to Interval International through Accor in Australia where we were used to 5 star luxury accommodation. Had we booked a cheap package holiday and got the Diamant we would have been happy it was of similar standard to other ski apartments I ve experienced in Europe with the additional facilities thrown in. However we were expecting luxury and did not get it. My partner was close to tears when she saw what we got.The one thing that remains unclear is whether we were right to expect Accor luxury through Interval too. Maybe we expected too much.A further point is that Villard De Lans is a predominantly French village and non-French speakers would find it difficult to get by. Very little English language is spoken.Skiing was good though.
