“Fantastic place to stay, we'll be going back!”

A great place to stay - we booked a 3 bed apartment for 2 of us and it was simply brilliant.

We travelled by overnight ski train, we contacted the apartments in advance and they arranged a place to leave our luggage and sorted out 8 day lift passes for us. We turned up at 7.30 on the Saturday morning (as most people were leaving) and they got us sorted and onto the slopes in time for the first lift.

The apartment was in a fantastic location, right by the piste - if we'd have been any closer the piste basher would have been in the living room! The decor is recent and good, the apartment was well equipped (for far more people than beds) and was a super place to come back to. Val thorens is a lively village, but if there was any late night noise we never heard it!

“Very good location”

We stayed here during a ski holiday and the location is excellent - ski-in and ski-out. The hotel is a 4-star establishment and although we did not have any major complaints, we did expect better service and a totally sparkling apartment for a 4-star establishment. It did feel more like a good 3-star than a 4-star.

It is however in a very good location. Away from the main nightlife area, but still with a good number of restaurants and shops close by.

“Slopeside magic. Large apartment, great views, bity noisy at night.”

The Montana apartments are in three blocks, Village Montana, Montana Valbel and Montana Soleil. I would say the Montana Soleil is the most modern but can get a little noisy with late night revellers! The apartments are spacious and kitted out with everything you need. Towels are included. Straight out the ski locker and onto the slopes, couldn't be better. Val Thorens has great runs for every leverl. I am a blue cruiser and they go on forever in Val Thorens.

“Good Accommodation, but no sleep at night!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2010

We stayed in the Montana Village in the Soleil which is the "one across the road", during the first week of the Easter holidays. We had been slightly concerned about this before we got there, but we found it no problem as we could go up in the "bubble" at the end of the day and ski down easily to the door of our locker room! The apartment itself was clean and roomy for our family of four, although the back bedroom was incredibly warm and stuffy at night Our main problem however was lack of sleep! Although we were in the quiet part of the town, an extremely large number of students were staying in a neighbouring cheaper hotel from which they emerged every night at about 10 pm. They would pass our hotel (and front bedroom and living area) as they made their way to the town lifts which were joined to our hotel. These lifts took them to the upper part of the town and to an area known as bar street! Every night the noise continued to 5 or 6 am as they made their way, shouting and yelling loudly, to and from the lifts! Some nights we ended up pulling the mattress into the hallway of our apartment and sleeping on the floor just inside the door! We came home from that holiday more shattered and exhausted than we have ever been! My advice is good skiing area and good accommodation, but be careful as to when you go!

“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2010

We had a wonderful stay at the Montana. After a few complaints, we were transferred from the hotel next door - and what a difference! The staff at Montana were extremely helpful. We had a beautiful view and enjoyed the ski in/ski out-possibilities. Having some stores right across the street was very convenient and it was very easy to get to the main part of the city with the free busses or the lift. The apartment was very good. We stayed 3 people in a 6-person apartment with cabin, which was perfect. The bathroom and shower were better than expected and so was the kitchen - after all, you never know what you get at skiing locations in France. The Wi Fi was a pleasant surprise. The only downside was the fact that the piste machines were working on the slopes right outside our windows, which kept us up for a few hours every night.
