“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

Accomadation is functional, clean, and fairly good service. Yes it is poor quality, but this is reflected in the costs of the holiday. If you want quality, be prepared to pay through the nose. This resort is mega expensive in my opinion. The beds were comfortable, clean, and kitchen / dishwasher was all fully adequate for a self catering holiday. The ski locker room is crap, cold and cramped.

So why do people even go there? the skiing in V.P is absolutley fantastic. It is a real skiiers and boarders resort. If you want to go to an awesome massive ski area with uncrouded slopes then go to V.P. It is a very serious " skiers" resort.
I was shocked at the costs of the resturants, bars etc. However the is apparently nothing compared to Courcheval.
There is a good priced supermarket.
It is not ideal for beginners, the weather was horrendously cold, sometimes arounnd minus 20.

However I definitely would return, but I would like to stay in a better quality accomodation.

“Great value, functional accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2010

I was a little anxious about this place having read some of the negative reviews below, but I found this place hard to fault for the price. We were a group of three chaps, enjoying both the skiing and nightlife in equal measure and it suited us down to the ground. Bang in the middle of town, restaurants, bars and shops right outside the front door. Each appartment has its own ski locker, ample for our gear. Can't comment on the kitchen facilities as we didn't use them, but they seemed adequate for preparing simple meals. The pull out living room bed I used was fine.
Despite there being several groups of uni students staying in the appartments, we experienced only occasional noise disturbance. Hot water was plentiful and the room was very well heated. It would have been rather cramped with 4 in there though.
All in all, if you're looking for functional, great value accommodation in the heart of this great resort, I would say this ticks the box.

“How much did you pay?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2010

Your impression of this hotel will be entirely coloured by how much you paid for your holiday. This is where the cheap dealers end up with Crystal and Inghams the main UK operators. If you paid full whack or anything like it for your stay you will be sorely disappointed but at £200 for a full weeks holiday including flights it is more acceptable. However I would rate it as two star rather than the three it gets in the brochures. The location is superb but as this was obviously one of the first developments in the resort it is dated in both layout and room size. The rooms are pretty well appointed but this cannot disguise the acute lack of space. Noise is also an issue but if you upgrade to a studio with an internal bunk room and sleep in there it is just about tolerable. The reception is unwelcoming to say the least and when it is not open all the furnishings are taken away - they obviously don't trust their guests - meaning you have to sit on the floor if you want to use the free wifi as it is only accessible in the reception area. Would I go back? Well if the price was right probably yes but it would have to be a cheap deal.

“Cheap, Cheerful but Noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2010

We're just back from a last minute cheap Crystal holiday to these apartments in one of my favourite resorts Val Thorens.

On check in and throughout the reception staff were really helpful.
The room (we were a family of 4 in a 4 bed room as no bigger rooms were available) were small, basic but clean and pretty comfy. Plenty of hot water which is always a bonus.
These apartments are situated right on the main drag, close to the slopes and have great mountain views - the only downside is the constant noise at night. I think we probably picked the worst week for noise levels as there seemed to be large amounts of unescorted Scandenavian kids who wanted to party all night and sleep all day, but the purchase of some earplugs did help. Reception staff did offer to move us to the back of the complex but we declined.

My only grumble is there seems to be no security or Police around in the early hours to stop this behaviour. We will probably look at a more family friendly resort in future as a good nights sleep whilst skiing is essential!
