“Tolerable only for big groups, far from the slopes, to avoid in december, 8”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2010

We went for the italian holiday of 4-8 December. We had to take 2 skibus in order to arrive at the central ski station. Maybe in Xmas you'll have open skilift and you can arrive directly with slopes. If you don't have the car, you have to walk a lot of stairs to arrive in the center of Les Des Alpes. The rooms are very small, everything (like TV) is to be paid apart.
To avoid

“only for young groups who like to make alot of noise”

myself and 3 friends spent a week in residence du soleil, while on a ski package holiday with "crystal ski". on arrival to the hotel the reception was closed until 5pm and we arrived at 11am so we couldn't check in or put our luggage away. also the hotel is up a steep hill and the shuttle bus only runs when the bus driver feels like it. we found the walk up challenging, and we're all in our early 20's,, people with young families and buggies should stay away..... the apartement itself was basic and clean, but we had to pay for the use of linen €10pp and the use of a small tv €40per week. one of the lifts is permanently out of action and the other over worked, especially between 8-9 in the morning when everyone is heading out on the slopes. the only constellation was our crystal rep who was a great help during the holiday. the one thing this place has that no other hotel can offer here is the view of the Alps.

“skiing trip started badly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2009

We booked this residence through a Slovenian tour operator. We had the misfortune of taking 14 hours to arrive to Les 2 Alpes instead of regular 8 hours, as there was an avalanche just before the destinations, so we had to make additional 300km and it was snowing. When we came there we were totally exhausted. It was 22.30 and when we arrived we realized that the reception was closed.Luckily we called on the way to the hotel and they said they would leave us our apartment open and would do the check-in the next morning. All we had to do is to check the list left at the reception, which room was prepared for us. The tragic thing was that there was not a single name at least similar to ours (our voucher said we had booked the Flocon D'Or).We were so tired and desperate that we started to check the rooms on the list and nobody was in, so we thought just to pick one and go to sleep. We called our agency emergency phone number...nobody answered. In the between all the residence resembled like a rave party of people partying and driking. It was one of the most surreal experience in my life. When we were on the verge to get one of the free rooms, one of our friends went to the building nearby and there he finally found our name on the list.So they rebooked us at the Residence du Soleil. So at least we could go and sleep. The next day we did the check-in and they gave us a formular to count all the dishes and utensils in the kitchen (most stupid thing ever). The good thing was you could order bread the evening before and get it in the morning. The Residence was on a hill with 100 steps to come up from the village and the bus ran only from 8am to 8pm.Just one time the shower draining was not working properly, but luckily they repaired it the same day.On the last day, to save up on cleaning service (45EUR extra), we cleaned ourselves and then the lady from the reception came up to check up.Then we could leave. All in all the apartments were nicely furnished, all the utensils worked properly. The best thing on ski trips is to have a dishwasher (we were in 6, ans you have no will to wash dishes in the evening).
The residence is good for young people, not so good for yourng families, esp. if you don't have a car. Not so well located in Les 2 Alpes, but one ski slope end at the residence, and it was a good way to start/end the skiing day.

“Do Not Stay Here......unless”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2009

...you like walking up/down 300 steps each time you need to get into town (the bus when stops running at 7pm and is very unreliable).
...you don't want to get into your apartment until 6pm (we arrived at the resort at midday and had to wait six hours until we could get into the apartment)
...you like rude and completely unhelpful hotel staff (our shower was blocked when we arrived and despite daily visits to reception nobody came to fix it until the last day).
....you like having to clean the whole place to make it habitable (I'm not the word's most fussy person by a long shot - this is very bad)

Seriously, Les Deux Alpes is an excellent ski area but this is a terrible accommodation option. If you can get it for free then fine but do not pay to stay here. I have worked in the holiday industry for 10 years and this is the worst place I have ever stayed.

“You get what you pay for!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2009

Having booked a well priced deal for our ski trip, I was concerned when i read all the negative reviews about this accommodation. However, I disagree with most of them! Yes the reception was closed until 5pm -and we arrived in resort at 1pm - but we were fully advised of this before arrival, and
secure storage was ready for us close by, we had plenty of time to sort and collect pre-booked kit etc. When we checked in we had to provide a €300 deposit - but we also were given a form to fill in to report anything we were not happy about regarding condition of equipment etc. Having listed everything we felt to be not 100% the reception very quickly sorted it for us - even changing a couple of slightly shabby blankets, and replacing a nonworking lamp. The unit is not big, but served well for 3 adults, was warm, clean, and had unlimited hot water for baths showers etc.We had great views over the resort, and had absolutely no problem in skiing to and from the door. In fact we were on the 4th floor, and there were direct access points from 3rd, 7th, and 8th floors. The only disadvantage with this location is the courtesy bus only runs until 7pm from resort, and the steps do give tired legs an extra work-out! When we were due to leave at 4.20am for the return transfer staff were happy to call in just before we left to check the unit over and return our deposit in full. The question would be - would we go back? The simple answer is yes....if you want hotel quality - then pay for it - if you want no frills cheap accommodation then there's absolutely nothing wrong with this place. If I was to complain about anything here it would be the total lack of respect other travellers had by making loads of noise outside, and those that don't clear up their own rubbish etc - hopefully those will be among the ones that DON'T get their deposits back!

  • Liked — The views and direct acces to slopes.
  • Disliked — Limited courtesy buses in the evnings.
