I've stayed at a lot of hotels at French ski resorts and this one is among my favorites. The room was a little small by American standards, but had a balcony with a great view on the Alpes, so who can complain? Plus, there was a bed in a separate front room, which provides a little privacy. But the Mercure has two other key features: excellent food and direct slope access. The breakfast was copious and my son loved the little crepes. Good coffee and pain au chocolat too. Dinner was diferent every night and generally of high quality - some nights better than others, of course. The wine was quite decent as well. Overall, it was a great experience and I'm looking forward to going back this ski season.

We arrived at the end of the season so it was not too crowed. Although the promise the front desk speaks different languagesn in this case they only spoke French.
The breakfast was decent, every day the same. I only ate one evening in the hotel for diner and it wasn't my cup of tea.
The cleaning lady did a very nice job.
The location is very good, you can go skiing or snowboarding immediately and just below the hotel there is a place to relax, drink & dance.
So I would go there again.

This Mercure was exactly what you want from a ski-resort hotel. nice bar area with a roaring fire, good bar with leather chairs and a huge screen showing sport!
Friendly staff throughout from reception to restaurant to bar and the rooms whilst quite basic were perfect for our needs. The food needs special mention - it was first-class. Breakfast had everything you could ask for with great pastries, fresh juices and excellent eggs with lots of good coffee. Dinner offered one of the best buffets I have seen and was delicious with so much choice and all of such good quality and taste.
Short walk down to the lift which was a bit of a pain down the steps but not too bad.
Evening entertainment....well there was 10 pin bowling and amusement gallery. Squash, steam, sauna and an indoor pool. We used the sauna, steam and jacuzzi every evening to unwind.
Irish bar in the basement for watching the football was good.

Negatives.
Not near to the town, that was 5 minutes down the hill by car if you had the energy or inclination (we didn't!)

We will definitely return to this hotel in the future.

We were surprised that the hotel was so far away from the main street in Deux Alpes and from the ski schools. With beginners in our party we couldn't ski down to the ski school, so the car we had hired was essential while staying at the Mercure, but the road was always clear and parking always available down in the town. The staff were very pleasant. The food was served buffet-style, but the choice was different every night and the quality excellent. You could eat heathily or indulgently. The room was fresh and clean with a balcony that gave a good view of the town and the mountains. The bathroom was nicely finished, but the toilet was separate and looked rather institutional compared with the rest of the room. There was entertainment every evening at the hotel. There were few British people there, so it was really geared to the French audience, but our child enjoyed the magician and the shows put on by the other children. It is a good hotel for families, well looked after and with very good food.
