i have never had such a good value for money ski holiday in my life! We were a group of 16 staying at the chalet edelweiss with neilson super service ,hot cooked breakfast ,cereals fresh breads and preserves juice ,tea.coffee, bottles of water and snacks for the day delicious home made cakes ,shortbread tea ,coffee and juice on return from the slopes . I must say our evening meals wer the highlight of the day canapes and sparkling wine followed by 4 courses with the wine flowing freely the food was of an excellent standard and quality. Our chalet hosts bonner and katie wre attentive and obliging always asking if the evening meal was to everyones taste they couldnt have been better. The rooms were comfortable but maybe the walls were a bit thin but as a party of family and friends taking up the whole chalet it didnt matter .Well done bonner ,katie and neilson we had a brilliant time

“Lovely chalet & fantastic food; probably too removed from the main resort for most travellers”

We stayed at the Chalet Edelweiss in the Altiport last week with Neilson and were really pleased with our stay.

The chalet was a good size, warm and welcoming. The chalet hosts were excellent; the chalet was always sparkling clean and the food was really excellent (hot breakfast every morning, yummy afternoon tea with vin chaud, aperitif and canapes at 7pm then a four course dinner at 7.30).

All of the bedrooms were ensuite but vary quite a bit in size. The bedrooms on the first floor with balconies are larger, while the two middle bedrooms on the first floor (with bath but no balcony) are smaller and a funny shape. The bedrooms on the lower ground floor have a nice view but are really tiny so are best avoided.

My only other small complaint is that the chalet is very badly sound-proofed, so we could hear the other guests coughing, chatting, showering etc in their rooms. Not a massive issue as I was so exhausted from the fresh air & skiing that I slept very well, but it kept a number of the other guests awake.

The chalet was advertised as having a sauna, which it did, but the sauna was in the boot room/garage which isn't ideal. The sauna also causes power surges which was amusing at first but a little frustrating if you're elsewhere in the chalet.

The altiport is a 15 - 20 min walk from the Les Bergers area of the resort, or a 3/4 min ski down the green altiport run which runs beside the chalet so it's not ideal for visitors who want to go to and from the bars every evening or for absolute beginners who would have to carry their skis to and from Les Bergers (which is where ski school meets) day on the bus at the beginning of the week until they are confident on greens alone.

On the Weds evening (when the chalet hosts have their night off) we went to the Altiport restaurant, which is right beside the tiny runway and a 5 minute walk from the chalet. From the outside this really didn't look anything special but the food is really really excellent and very well priced compared to the standard mountain restaurant; i.e. the food is more than twice as good as a bog-standard pizza/fondue/pasta but probably only 25% more expensive.

“Good Value - Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2009

4th time here - 3rd Chalet. Booking direct with Eurogroup seems best value for us - renting the whole chalet and self-catering. It's far more convenient when feeding fussy kids. We have stayed in: Lena - loads of room in the living / dining area - 30sec walk to the slopes. There were issues with the boiler and water when we stayed (this was 2005). Isobelle - loads of room. Would have slept 20 but there only 10 of us - 1min walk to slope. Anika 2 - we have stayed here twice (inc mar 2009) smaller living area. Top floor has 2 twin bedrooms with en-suite and a double room with en-suite. 1st floor has 2 twin rooms both with en-suite as well as kitchen / livingroom /diner. Ground floor has twin bedroom with en-suite but is small (just about big enough for our friend and her baby!) Ski & Boot storage but NO ELECTRIC BOOT WARMERS!. There is a hot tub which decided to start emptying itself 2 days in - cue large puddle on the ground floor - once refilled it stayed filled although by the 5th day it was starting to whiff a bit. The location is the selling point for this chalet - ski to and from the front door - especially now all the kids are skiing

“Chalet was magnificent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2008

Great location, chalets are beautiful and are really well equiped, especially kitchen and lounge. We loved the fireplace, the sauna, the large ski room. the plus : bread delivery and the views.
the team was helpful, they dealt with noisy water tank very quickly, the whole family would recommend.

  • Liked — magnificent chalets
  • Disliked — 1 rooms downstairs was smaller than the others

“Dissapointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2008

We booked our chalet through Eurogroup. The Brochure description led us to believe that we were going to a well serviced accommodation, with a high level of luxury amenities. What we found on our arrival was a not particularly clean chalet, one toilet blocked (the rep said that he was aware of this but he couldn't get a plumber for a couple of day!) the fire place which features prominently in the brochure was not working; one of the Jacuzzi baths was not working (had never been wired in!). There was an awful smell of sewerage coming from the shower in one of the rooms. Most of the rooms were without light bulbs and no light in the sauna, which made it unusable. (The rep brought over some light bulbs and unsuccessfully tried to deal with the pluming issues). The chalets was sold to us on the basis that it could accommodate 10/12 people (we were only eight) but there was insufficient pots and pans to prepare even the simplest of meals for the eight of us. The rep simply smiled back at us when we complained and shrugged his shoulders. Eurogroup need to improve their act. They won’t be getting our return business. We only got 80% of what was promised by them. Shame because they got 100% of our money! Skiing was great and the location is great for ski-in-ski-out. The chalet is 15 minutes to the local shops and facilities - all downhill - 30 minutes uphill with the shopping!
