“Easy connection to ski and fun.”

This hotel is situated on the right side of Alp d'Huez (when looking at the pistes). It is directly on the big parking lot, at the side of the shopping gallery and several ski lifts. The hotel garage was fully booked, but the parking lot was well taken care of by snowplow trucks. It took us less then 5 minutes walk to get to the piste square with lifts. The hotel has got a large ski room, but it is not heated, so your ski boots will stay wet after a day of skiing. Ski lockers are okay. The swimming pool is small, but enough for a quick swim, with small jacuzzi and sauna. Okay to go with kids (depth from 1m to 1.50m).
Room was taken care of everyday, clean up and fresh towels. For our child the couch was folded out to create a single bed, well for a kid, not for an adult. Pillows were small and we used 2 per person. Size of room was very good, with 2 extra chairs, desk and TV. The free Wifi only works in the lobby. Toilet was separated from bathroom, which was large enough and with a bath incl. hot shower.
The restaurant we used both for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, to everyone's liking. Dinner was fixed menu (1 soup, 2 choices of starters and 2 choices of main course - fish or meat, and dessert offered choice of local or ice cream) and for kids a special main course. The food tasted average. The service was a bit slow, because it seemed the French staff avoided us and so we were depending on one English lady of staff, together with many other non-French guests. Dinner for groups was served in another room as for families.
We were happy we could use the shower at the swimming pool after check out, in the afternoon after our last day of skiing and before driving home.

“Worst Food Ever”

Le Pic Blanc is nicely situated near the ski slopes and from outward appearances seemed to tick the right boxes. The service was very attentive and friendly both at the front desk and especially at the bar. The rooms were clean but basic, with none of the toiletry type stuff you would expect at a hotel. The bed was old, very low, and extremely uncomfortable, exacerbated by the small, pancake-flat pillows.

The meals (if they can be called that) were some of the most atrocious slop ever presented to me on a plate. Breakfast (included in the room rate) was derived from the lowest quality ingredients known to man, such that basics such as scrambled eggs bore no resemblance to the dish they were supposed to be, and the coffee smelt like bad breath and tasted like watery vegemite. Dinner was even worse - the highlight of the meal was a mushroom soup which tasted like packet soup but with less flavour. From there the meal went downhill with steak as tough as boots and a rum sponge cake that tasted like detergent.

“Hotel with excellent views but little or no atmosphere”

Having just stayed 6 nights on a ski trip in high season I was amazed a the lack of people staying in the hotel especially as it is located so centrally in the resort. The views are tremendous from the rooms across the mountains, the facilities are good including a nice pool and sauna which was much appreciated at the end of the day. There is a lack of atmosphere in the bar and restaurant in the evening which could be rectified so easily, there is a large log fire palce which was never used while we were there, the bar staff were lacking customer care compared to the smaller bars around the resort. It is also a good idea to check your bar bill at the end of your stay as no receipt is given when you book wine and drinks to your room number

“Amazing views from the balcony”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst watching family and friends complete the Alpe D'Huez Triathalon. My husband also took his bike over, to complete the (much fabled in the bike world) 21 switch back turns going up Alpe D'Huez.

The hotel is better than I expected for a 3 star - the wi fi did work (unlike some reviews on here where they found it did not), the pool was lovely, but the most amazing thing was our view from the balcony. We looked over the gushing water and amazing mountains. It was a totally breath taking view. We had B&B which worked perfectly.

Great hotel - ask for a mountain view (rather then the car park!).

“Great hotel in superb location”

Under 10mins walk from Huez village centre, we had a superior room which had breathtaking views from our balcony. All services (pool, sauna, WiFi, jacuzzi) worked fine, staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very big and comfortable and the views made waking up a real treat. Buses from Huez to Lyon/Grenoble are only 2 per day in summer (either 7am or 7pm), so a hire car is good, especially for visiting nearby villages in the Parc National Des Ecrins.
