“3 Star is being VERY generous!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

This hotel is in my top three of worst hotels to stay in. Not from a location point of view, purely from a comfort and business point of view.

Location is very quiet, which is great, there is a village close by with a few decent restaurants (the hotel restaurant has restricted hours). However, the village has irregular opening hours and is closed on Sundays! There is no room service in the hotel, so if you miss the restaurant(s), then it's tough!

The beds are so hard that I have had to have Chiropractic treatment following 2 stays here. "So why did I stay again?" I hear you ask - well my company use this hotel, so I don't have a lot of choice!

The breakfast is sparse and basic and when things run out, you have to push to get the empty dishes replenished.
The rooms are basic with no bathroom facilities, eg shampoos conditioner etc. The Spa facilities are expensive.

The internet is free, but doesn't always work efficiently. They do have bikes you can hire for the day - obviously not recommended in winter, and they have a free shuttle to the airport.

I certainly would not pay money out of my own pocket to stay here!

Room Tip: choose another hotel!!

“the best ever stay after living through Fukushima earthquake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

god I do not know where to begin, I was a bit scared but we had the best ever stay here.
I think the first night the spa was not working for safety, it did not bother us as we had a pool in Australia and know all about the difficulty of water testing.

We wish we could just stay longer. We were obliged to leave Japan, a beautiful country we have called ours for 8 years of our lives, after the earthquake, in fact we stayed as long as we could in Japan, but decided to come back for our daughter to be safe and start school in Europe. We rented a house and stayed during the beginning of our arrival in Europe for four nights. The house we rent is a nightmare of problems, after Japan it is not something we needed but I guess people are more lucky than other, we are alive so we should not complain.

The villa du lac is a beautiful, extremely friendly place that helped us in the evening forget all our worries from our last few months but also from this horrible house we are renting.

It is the first few nights we are really sleeping, as before we were nearly every night awoken by earthquakes, the beds are great, and in the morning we are like, god already time to wake up, yummy breakfast waiting for us.

the people here are wonderful, the room is beautiful, breakfast is gorgeous and so yummy, just perhaps the eggs are a bit weird but that is all. The dinner is so good, I do not know how many kg I have put on and I do not care. God it is hard to decide what to order as everything is soo good. Every day is another great experience. They even gather to our daughter that is allergic and cook her her own plain pasta without a fuss.
We will definitely come back, although we will only live about 5 minutes from there, when we will need a bit of rest and peaceful time, friendly and smiling people, w will come here.

A little idea for people there, you can also just enjoy the restaurant I think, which we will definitely do when we need a bit of pampering and good food.

Thank you to all the staffs to have help us to have an extremely wonderful time after a few horrible months. We are leaving tomorrow this great place, but we will come back for sure.

I definitely recommend anyone to come here. I wish we could just live here instead of where we are renting.

“Solid 3 star close to Geneva”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

The hotel is 20min drive from Geneva airport and is priced much better than any hotels nearby Geneva. Located just across the lake on the outskirts of Divonne a lovely small little French village full of tourists on the weekends. One could stay in apartments with kitchenette or in a standard hotel room. I stayed in both on two separate ocassions. Apartments were very basic, however clean. There were lots of families with many kids. You need to pay extra for breakfast and spa if you stay in apartments. Second time I booked standard room as the apartments were not available. To my surprise the room turned out to be much nicer than the apartment, everything looked more new, nicer towels, nicer bedsheets, enough space in the bathroom. No complaints really about the room, which was cleaned very well daily and towels changed any day we wanted. Free internet cable connection in the room, free parking. Breakfast is ok, nothing fancy, however nothing to complain about either. Reception staff was helpful even though I had absolutely no French. I used spa once, which I found a bit too small and not worth paying extra if you're staying in the apartment. I did not use the restaurant for evening meals or lunches so I cannot comment on this. I would recommend as a good alternative for staying in much more expensive Geneva. Divonne has its undisputable charm with its lake and streams going through the village.

“Bare bones apartment style room, but does the trick.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Kid friendly apartment style hotel outside of Geneva/Nyon. La Villa du Lac is located across the street from Lac Divonne, and next door to a very huge kid park called Forestland, and within walking distance of beautiful Divonne, France (which by the way, has the best farmers market around on Sundays). The hotel has studio, one and two bedroom bare bones apartment style rooms.
Our one bedroom had a small mini kitchen w/ fridge, a kitchen table for 4, a double pull out couch, coffee table. ancient tv, two single beds in the bedroom and a small patio with a plastic table and 2 chairs. The hotel provides you with bare necessities such as 4 towels and bed linens, which are changed one a week along with a quick sweep of the apartment. Washer and dryers are provided near the entrance to the building. Vacum cleaners and a broom/dust pan are provided in the room.
They also have a continental breakfast each morning in the restaurant which has pancakes, sausages, yummy baguettes and croissants.
The hotel does have a small pool, but children are only allowed in after 7:30 at nite as to not disturb the spa guests.

Room Tip: I had to call to get the dates I needed, as the website said the dates were unavailable.
