“Old, Old, Old World - kind of charm...Old”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

Went for some business meetings. First off, a beautiful location. Great views. The hotel and rooms are very old -- if you are looking for some charm, then this is the place. If you are looking for working Internet and a modern feel - go elsewhere. There is also a bit of an attitude here, as they wouldn"t recommend any outside restaurants to us, or allow us to order food in, as they only wanted us to eat in their restaurant...Also, smeels old and musty, but kind of cool and retro that way - in a mid-evil way...Beware of getting a windowless room...

Room Tip: Get one with a window! some dont have windows!!!

“old world charm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

We stayed overnight in this hotel after a Valentine's Day meal. We had a large room and it was like the Chateau overall: comfortable, spacious, a little on the shabby side. For instance the furniture didn't all match in our room and one of the curtains fell off the window when we opened it. Nothing serious, but more in the range of old charm rather than pure comfort and luxury (that one might expect for the price).
The hotel is in a very quiet location but the floorboards were creaky so I was relieved that the people in the room above us didn't move around much - as we heard them when they walked.
The staff were friendly and kind - although a cleaner came into our room when we were still there.
The food was good. Not outstanding but good and the breakfast was very nice.

“A special treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

I stayed here with three others over a weekend for a birthday treat. The stay was very memorable and I would highly recommend this hotel, as long as you're not on a tight budget. As we were all golfers, our main focus was a round at the golf course next door which was also lovely.

Our room was very luxurious - it had a seating area with a sofa etc that you would normally not find in a standard room - and the bathroom was great if a bit on the small side.

The highlight of this stay was dinner in the restaurant. Yes the decor is traditional but we loved it. What's more, the food is very modern and very tasty - a full on gourmet experience. Try the pan-seared foie gras with caramalised apple!

The staff were very pleasant and all spoke very good english which is a bonus.

As I say, this place is best enjoyed with friends for a special occasion. I wouldn't actually recommend this for couples because the atmosphere is quiet most of the time. For instance, we were the only people having tea on the magnificent terrace in the afternoon and the only people in the bar after dinner on a saturday night.

“Really average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2010

satly food and very dated atmosphere. The chef needs to be replaced. Also and not shocking: if you want to smoke outside there is nowhere to put your stud out. And there are fag ends all over the place. Honnesty, would't an ash tray be worth it?
Charles the Maitre d'Hotel was a nice guy but hopeless too (plus dressed from c&a.
Don't go. Spend your money elsewhere.
very expensive for no great sakes. Go to the PIRATE in Ferney-Voltaire. might be dated too, but excellent food in a nicer ambiance.

“Wonderful all around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2009

Beautiful old mansion set in the lovely town of Divonne-les-Bains. Friendly staff and terrific food. I had a great room (room 22) but others in my business party had small or oddly shaped rooms - some with very small porthole windows (room 36). About a 100 euro cab ride (one way) to Geneva Old City.
