We booked this hotel as we were attending the Tour de France which was starting in the Vendee.
There was some slight confusion over the booking as the hotel was practically taken over by Tour staff, but resolved quickly.
We had room 8, which was in the "annexe" attached to the hotel, and entered by touch pad. There is a lift, albeit small, but you enter to be greeted with a strange smell, but during the three days we were there, it does decrease. This probably due to lack of air circulation.
The room, with balcony, was on the small size, clean, comfortable, with an good bathroom. The local area is residential, therefore, quiet, which with the heat, we had to have to balcony doors open.
You exit the annexe to the hotel for meals, but due to the impact of Tour staff, we couldn't have dinner, it was closed to other guests. The breakfast however was fine, good choice of juices, meats, cheeses, boiled eggs etc, worth the 8 euros.
The downside is the walk to town, particularly if you have walking problems.
It maybe is only 500 metres to the beach, but it is considerably longer to the city centre, and the harbour, where all the restaurants are situated . I would guess 1.5/2.0 kms. It is along walk, notwithstanding its interest.
Due to the problem of dining, we used the restaurant at the nearby Casino, which was very good, highly recommended, and only a 10 minute walk. The hotel advised us of the arrangement, together with a discount facility.
There is little point in paying for parking, as the hotel is situated outside parking zone problems, and the immediate area seems OK
All in all I would recommend this hotel, but be prepared for a long walk
