We stopped at Chatelleraut on our way from Le Havre to Bordeaux. The town itself is nice and has a good food market on saturday morning.
We contacted Godeleine Peteul via a google search. She sent us very good directions. When we arrived the property was very central with parking outside. We entered via a large green gate. The house was really lovely (100 years old) with a huge, very peaceful garden. Godeleine was very welcoming. She showed us to our rooms which were at the top of the house. (We travelled with our 2 daughters). The house was beautifully decorated and the rooms were also lovely. We had a harp in our room.
Godeleine invited us downstairs for drinks after we had taken our luggage up.
In the morning we awoke and were treated to a breakfast of all homemade preserves, bread, waffles and a variety of fruit. My children especially liked the homemade waffles and ate all of them!
There is also free wi-fi at the property.
I would definately recommend this accomodation and would like to stay there again.
The host and hostess are both friendly and welcoming. They sat for a long time with us telling us about the area and answering our questions. Their english is also good. A great welcome to france!
