You wouldn't put your dog in the room we were given. It was disgusting - anything that wasn't either broken or filthy (or both) was old, tired and just about hanging together. Unfortunately, that was the state we were in too, after a long day's travel, and so, as night was falling, we had no choice but to take this room. The duty manager said he had only worked there for four months and so had never seen the room for himself. Great training scheme! He will undoubtedly go far in the company.
The 'shower' was a dirty piece of hosepipe dangling from the bath tap; there were holes in the thin walls, electric sockets were loose - the whole room was quite obviously a health hazard, but no one was interested. And to cap it all, the restaurant (unspeakably dire food, but that hardly needs saying) had run out of wine - in France! 'We ran out yesterday,' the duty manager told us, making it clear that no-one had done anything about it in 24 hours. The whole experience was truly horrible. We will never ever go near another Campanile hotel.
