“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

The hotesl in the Campanile Group are always are good value and convenient. Normally on the outskirts of the town or city they offer a great place to stop for the night
Peronne is a very good place to stop just before you face Paris on the way south.
Easy to find and the excellent restaurant (which always has a great value 'special') saves worrying about taking the car out again.

Room Tip: Don't expect 5 star accommodation, but it is a good, clean stopping-off point, with excellent re...

“Don't Book”

Room had not been cleaned - dirty towels and dirty bed linen. Room very basic and in need of updating, although this wouldn't have been a problem should the room have been cleaned properly. Restaurant looked nice and food ok. Did not complain (I know we should have) but had booked into another Campanile hotel a few days earlier and was unable to stay due to building work and was already in dispute with that one about being charged for cancellation.

“Worst ever hotel experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

You wouldn't put your dog in the room we were given. It was disgusting - anything that wasn't either broken or filthy (or both) was old, tired and just about hanging together. Unfortunately, that was the state we were in too, after a long day's travel, and so, as night was falling, we had no choice but to take this room. The duty manager said he had only worked there for four months and so had never seen the room for himself. Great training scheme! He will undoubtedly go far in the company.
The 'shower' was a dirty piece of hosepipe dangling from the bath tap; there were holes in the thin walls, electric sockets were loose - the whole room was quite obviously a health hazard, but no one was interested. And to cap it all, the restaurant (unspeakably dire food, but that hardly needs saying) had run out of wine - in France! 'We ran out yesterday,' the duty manager told us, making it clear that no-one had done anything about it in 24 hours. The whole experience was truly horrible. We will never ever go near another Campanile hotel.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2010

We have stayed here over the last 5 years as it is close to our friends apartment. each time it has become increasingly shabby. This time was the worst- the bathrom ceiling was covered in mould and the floor was dirty. the shower curtain really stank of damp/ mould. the toilet wouldnt flush properly. large damp patch on the wall beside the bed.
Breakfast at 9 euros ahead was a joke, there was a poor selection of food stuffs to choose from and the croissants/ pain au chocolate were dry and hard and close to burnt. think they had probably been reheated.
We are going to find somewhere else next time. there is a small hotel at the other end of the main street which looks like a much better bet and has good reputation for food.

“Grim, bordering on the unsafe”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2009

After much difficulty we eventually found it, right on the edge of town on an industrial estate. Staff were friendly, but that's about all that we could complement.

The rooms are motel-style in a separate block, with external 'balcony corridors'. We were on the ground floor - our first impression on entering was that it was crawling with flies and other wildlife. We seriously considered cutting our losses and leaving then and there, but instead ventured out to the hypermarket to buy insecticide...

The room was allegedly supposed to be a triple, but the third bed was not prepared, and there was not really sufficient space to put it up, had we needed to. The air conditioning unit was badly located in an alcove so had little effect throughout the room, but the thermostat was on the wall just above one of the beds and clicked loudly all night.

The bathroom was shabby, not particularly clean and smelled fusty. We didn't spend a second longer in there than we needed to.

The shutters were noisy to operate, and we were disturbed by several other people closing their shutters. We could also hear every footstep taken by the people in the room above ours.

The restaurant was OK but nothing great. We decided to avoid the buffet, given the number of flies that we saw crawling around it.

The biggest concern, however, had to be the loose manhole cover at the edge of the path between the buildings - partially stepping on it caused it to move and open up the drain hole below - an accident waiting to happen.

In summary: fly-ridden, noisy, in a poor state of repair, and not the cleanest, but, on the plus side, an excellent view of the local JCB distributor...
