We stayed here in the hope of catching a ferry the following day at the height of the volcanic ash crisis. Arriving at the port the queues were horrendous. On arriving at the pre-booked hotel(Campanile staff in Carcassonne having done an excellent job) we asked if we could reserve a room for the following night if the queues at the port were no better, and if they were we would cancel straight away. The manager was most accommodating. Next day the queues were much shorter in the morning so we rang and cancelled, no charge. Regular users of the chain will have found that the rooms are nothing special but clean and comfortable. The food more than acceptable for the money and the Calais one is no exception. If you need an overnight stop in Calais this is a good place and easy to find.

The room was very cramped and as there was 3 of us in the room we needed the 3rd bed. However this had to be pulled out from under another bed and it left no floor space to get to the bathroom! We decided against it so mum and daughter shared a single bed!
The breakfast was extra and again very basic.
It was relatively clean, but in need of an update.

However it was very handy for the ferry port, so that was a plus!

We arrived from Dover and easily found the Campanile which is only a couple of Km from the harbour.

Check was quick and efficient; the room was identical to any other Campanile and dinner was typical.

We left early the following morning, and had while nothing was outstanding, everything we needed was in order. There's nothing exceptional, and nothing bad to comment on.

This is a typical 2* simple motel which we managed to book well in advance at a discount.

Have stayed here once/twice a year for the last 10 years and have seen a marked increase in cost and a decrease in service. Buffet dinner was sadly depleted - looked like it hadn't been filled up from lunch time, small amount of salmon especially. Have never used restaurant for breakfast so can't comment on that . Ordered sirloin steak and hate to think what it actually was!! Never seen meat like it. Yes it was that bad. Desserts average - staff quite unfriendly, overall very disappointing - will not be using again.
