Took us a while to find the hotel but after a quick phone call to the friendly reception staff we found our way. The rooms are basic and quite small and could do with some love and attention but are fine for a 1 night stopover. It is quite far from the centre so you would need a taxi if you plan on doing anything other than eating in the restaurant. Location though is very good for the ferry port about a 5/10 minute drive away. Breakfast was buffet style and ok I guess for the 7 Euro price tag. Not sure if I would stay again but the price is such good value you'd be hard pushed to find someplace cheaper.

The Campanile is very much a one night stopover place for people catching the car ferry. Being a good way out of Calais centre, you absolutely need to drive to go anywhere else in town. It is typical of such places in France, reasonably priced, clean, professionally run, but no character whatsoever. It is built motel- style, so you need to go out of doors to get to the restaurant and reception.
Dinner buffet was a little disappointing. Where was the protein? Grated carrots, beetroot, etc are delicious, but there seemed to be no substance to the meal. Wish I had opted for something else on the varied menu. The dessert buffet was lovely, though.
Reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights late may.Hotel easy to find and rooms very clean but very very small.The weather was rather warm and althought the hotel has air conditioning it only came out with warm air !!.The breakfast was basic to say the least for your 7 euros.We preferred to eat elsewhere on our stay.DO NOT remove the pillow cases as i did,you will not like what you find !! BEWARE.

My boyfriend and I stayed here after getting off a late afternoon ferry in Calais. We chose the Campanile as I have fond memories of staying in one when I was a child in France with my family. The Campanile was really warm and welcoming which was especially nice as we had arrived in the driving rain! Rooms are basic but clean with a tv and tea and coffee making facility and the bed was comfy. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were actually really good. The spread of desserts is something to behold! The staff were friendly too, and tried to go along with our bad GSCE french!

All in all a great budget choice if you're having a stopover. On the way back we stayed at the Ibis in Bologne sur mer and it was awful. We wished we'd gone back to the Campanile.
