I looked on the website of the airport in Beauvais to find a hotel in the vicinity. I chose this hotel and made the booking by internet. The booking was accepted and I received confirmation, the amount for the room - 55 euros - was debited from my credit card.

My flight was delayed, but the shuttle bus at the airport - expressly for the purpose of dropping people off at the hotels in the vicinity - was there and dropped me at the hotel.

The hotel situated in an industrial estate was completely shut when I arrived, surrounded by a fence and a gate. Nobody answered when I pressed the intercom - I stood there with my luggage for about 20 minutes trying to figure out why there was not even a night porter?? I eventually had to walk with my luggage in order to find another hotel - the Campanile is situated in a completely isolated location - there were no taxis or evident amenities nearby in order to get a number to call one.

When I called the hotel to explain what happened they replied, and I quote "ce n'est pas notre problème - l'hôtel ferme à 23:00". I explained that I had booked by internet as it was recommended by the airport website as one of the nearby hotels and that it was not indicated on my confirmation that the hotel closed at 23:00 -the Director repeated that it was not his problem and the airport closed at 23:00. I told them as my flight was delayed that the airport was not closed at 23:00 plus the fact that the shuttle bus was still operating and did not say anything about the hotel being closed.

There was a total lack of concern by the Manger I spoke to, no apology and no understanding of what have could have been a potentially dangerous situation for someone without the necessary funds or language skills to book a hotel at that time of night in an isolated suburb of Paris. The final response being - this has never occurred before and we are not going to change for one person.

I have travelled quite a lot and this is the first time I experienced a situation like this - worsened by the fact that the hotel was prepaid.

Cute little hotel in what seemed like the edge of a quasi-industrial business area. The room entries are outside, so the vibe is more like a rustic motel.

We stayed there overnight before heading to Paris. We ended up taking the city bus into town and then walking to the train station. Neither of us speak French, but managed to figure everything out without much difficulty.

Booked in at the Campanile Hotel for a few nights stay to allow us to explore Beauvais area. However, without a car local transport which was close by stopped at a very early hour. Taxi back to hotel was quite pricey for the distance. The room was good and buffet breakfast plentiful. Location, unless you had a car was a bit like being in a travel lodge situated at the back of a retail park.. Felt a bit isolated so checked out early and moved to hotel in the centre of Beauvais.
