“A Nightmare!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

In fairness, I cannot comment on the inside of a bedroom in this hotel or what the breakfast is like, etc. because we never managed to stay inside the building. I booked a twin bedroom for my adult son and I from an internet cafe in Marrakesh where the printer was not working. Therefore, I just took down the name, address and telephone number of the hotel together with the booking reference.
We arrived into Beauvais airport quite late and were able to catch the last airport shuttle bus at 11.15 p.m. We were delivered into the middle of a dark industrial estate and on walking towards the hotel at approx. 11.40 p.m., we were met by a closed gate. We tried pressing the intercom but there was no reply. Luckily, or so we thought, a mini-bus approached to leave the grounds, the gate opened and we walked in. This is where the nightmare started. The gate closed behind us and we went to the reception building to check-in only to find that the place was completely closed up. I tried calling the telephone number that I had jotted down but there was no reply and there was no emergency or out-of-hours number written on the reception door. As my son succinctly put it 'Mum, we're screwed'! Yes, we were. There was no way out of the grounds and nothing else to do but bunker down in the freezing cold 'sleeping' (no chance) under a covered stairwell.
I completely agree with the review below stating that this was a potentially dangerous situation not just because of funds or language but also in case of a medical problem or fire.
The following morning we knocked on the reception door at around 6.15 a.m. to be told they didn't open until 6.30 p.m. However, it turned out that the lady we spoke to was 'reception'. We explained what had happened and she merely shrugged her shoulders and said it was not her fault if I hadn't read that they close reception at 11.00 p.m. She went on to say that it is written on all the websites. I have since checked and, yes, it is but in small print and if one is booking an airport hotel room surely they should stay open until after the last airport shuttle bus has finished its rounds. It certainly didn't occur to me to that a hotel like this would close so early.
We happen to be in the hotel business in Ireland and if I thought any receptionist of ours would be so rude, she would be shown the door pretty quickly. There was absolutely no sympathy shown, no offer of a hot drink and when I asked to use the ladies, the lights wouldn't work. I had to seek her out because she was preparing for breakfast and when she couldn't get them to come on she just shrugged again and disappeared. At that point, we left to wait for the first shuttle bus back to the airport.
So, to cut a long and horrible story short, if you are thinking of staying here, read the small print. When I asked if she was going to put the payment through, she said she would have to refer to her manager. If they do process payment (75.00 euro), I will dispute it to the last.
It's the first time that I have had to sleep rough and I hope to goodness I will never have to again.

“Fine for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We flew in from Pisa and need a place to stay before catching a train to Rouen the next morning. This hotel fit the bill though it is out a little from the historic center and surrounded by large suburban stores. We took a taxi there--and be warned that you need to call for a taxi in advance to return as Beauvais is not a large city (45min. wait).
Our room was very nice--clean and cheery. The shower pressure was good. The wifi worked well. We ate breakfast & dinner in the hotel restaurant and found it very reasonable and satisfying.

Room Tip: Be warned that you need to call for a taxi in advance to return as Beauvais is not a large city (45m...

“Nice place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

Arrived nearly 22:00 Hrs after very long drive from UK. Restaurant stayed open to serve us very nice fresh food.
Beds in rooms have been upgraded from old style and gave a very comfortable nights sleep.

Room Tip: Garden side gives quieter rooms, but all are OK.

“you get what you pay for,so no complaints here”

I have to say i found the staff friendly and helpful, and rooms are basic but comfertable enough, you cant complain for the price. The nearby town of beauvais was very quaint and i found the local people very friendly, theres a bus outside the hotel which takes you straight to the airport which cost us 4 euros each and lasted over 48 hours,we used our monies worth,as we caught a bus to paris from the airport, and then we used the bus to go in to beauvais,we would use the campanile again for a couple of night as we are planning a trip back,i work in the hotel industry and thats why my motto is,you get what you pay for!!!!!

“Terrible potentially dangerous experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

I looked on the website of the airport in Beauvais to find a hotel in the vicinity. I chose this hotel and made the booking by internet. The booking was accepted and I received confirmation, the amount for the room - 55 euros - was debited from my credit card.

My flight was delayed, but the shuttle bus at the airport - expressly for the purpose of dropping people off at the hotels in the vicinity - was there and dropped me at the hotel.

The hotel situated in an industrial estate was completely shut when I arrived, surrounded by a fence and a gate. Nobody answered when I pressed the intercom - I stood there with my luggage for about 20 minutes trying to figure out why there was not even a night porter?? I eventually had to walk with my luggage in order to find another hotel - the Campanile is situated in a completely isolated location - there were no taxis or evident amenities nearby in order to get a number to call one.

When I called the hotel to explain what happened they replied, and I quote "ce n'est pas notre problème - l'hôtel ferme à 23:00". I explained that I had booked by internet as it was recommended by the airport website as one of the nearby hotels and that it was not indicated on my confirmation that the hotel closed at 23:00 -the Director repeated that it was not his problem and the airport closed at 23:00. I told them as my flight was delayed that the airport was not closed at 23:00 plus the fact that the shuttle bus was still operating and did not say anything about the hotel being closed.

There was a total lack of concern by the Manger I spoke to, no apology and no understanding of what have could have been a potentially dangerous situation for someone without the necessary funds or language skills to book a hotel at that time of night in an isolated suburb of Paris. The final response being - this has never occurred before and we are not going to change for one person.

I have travelled quite a lot and this is the first time I experienced a situation like this - worsened by the fact that the hotel was prepaid.
