“Very dirty and old rooms, excellent location”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Rooms are really very dirty. Never heard of a vacuum cleaner. In the bathroom everywhere hairs, dust and mold.
Bed is hard and noisy. Under the bed not cleaned since years. Everywhere dust.
Old and broken furniture
We could check in from 7.00a.m. according our reservation but the room was avaliable at 14.00.
According to website airconditioned in every room, but there's airco only in the restaurant.

You can better go to Holiday in Express at the opposite side of the street: very clean cheaper than Le Carlton and value for money, also included breakfast.

“Average hotel, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

Le Carlton is in a great location, directly opposite the train station which is not at all a 'tacky' part of town as is the usual case with train stations. It leads onto to a great little pedestrian only shopping mall and the town itself is very clean, there is obviously a lot of civic pride here. The canal area is just lovely. The hotel itself, although clean, is looking a bit tired and worn though. Our room was spacious but the bed was very hard and the room itself quite stark. The bathroom was also large but I don't like having hand held shower hoses in the bathtub. The staff were very friendly and check in and out was trouble free. For one night it was OK but perhaps a little overpriced for the standard on offer.

“Olde worlde”

Nice hotel but I did have a few problems. No shower curtain & not much pressure or hot water so this lets them down (I love a good shower!) Wi-fi is very intermittent especially if you're at the back of the hotel. Breakfast is a bit limited. Overall a good hotel but more expensive than the Holiday Express over the road which I rated higher.

“Basic 3-star, as advertised, no unpleasant surprises”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2009

We stayed here for two nights on July 4th and 5th. The Hotel was pretty much as advertised, pretty basic, but everything was clean, the place was very quiet, and everything worked the way it should. North Americans should realize however that when a hotel here says the bathrooms come equipped with a shower, more often than not it is a shower head on a hose, with no enclosure or curtain. It can get pretty chilly while you're soaping up! The hotel is on the corner of a busy street and a pedestrian walkway, so you have to unload your luggage in front of the hotel, and park across the street in a public underground parking lot. Pay at the hotel, it's cheaper. Our room was on the back, so, consequently, no view to speak of. Also, no air conditionning, which is not unusual in the north of France. The only real gripe, and this is for almost every hotel we stayed in during our two weeks in France, is the price of breakfast. You can do much better by venturing out of the hotel and finding a bakery, or "patisserie", where you can get a croissant, coffee and juice for about 5 Euros, instead of paying the 8 to 18 Euros for a buffet breakfast at the hotel, for essentially the same thing. So, unless you are a huge eater in the morning, the breakfasts are really not worth it. My suggestion is to find one the night before, and ask if they serve in the morning. You should know that many do not open on Mondays.

“convenient and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2009

Lovely hotel room, (had a laugh when we heard a little dog barking next door as we passed by). friendly staff and absolutely delicious french breakfast and the BEST coffee we had tasted in the 2 weeks we spent in france. Otherwise it was mostly always coffee from an instant machine. Very quiet even tho its situated on a 4 lane extremely busy road. We heard nothing. Car parking is free across the road in the parking station for the night only. You are given a ticket by the hotel staff so that you dont have to pay the parking fee. Good location with train station across the road and close to jules vernes house and cathedral as well as the western front.

We wanted to stay another night but nearly the whole of amiens was booked out for the next couple of days which may have been due to the popularity of the western front 90th anniversary australian anzac day tours, which we were there for. (the next night we had to spend in Alberta in a hotel that was run by Basil fawlty!! If you have seen fawlty towers then you will understand what i mean)

We would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
