“Great hotel, very convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed in this hotel whilst touring The Somme battlefields and found it very comfortable and convenient. The parking for the hotel is across the road so try not to have too many suitcases but apart from that it was great. We arrived on a freezing cold night and although the receptionist didn't speak very good english and our french isn;t great she made us very welcome. The food in the restaurant was very good and they provide a nice breakfast. The only criticism I would have is that the restaurant staff were very glum and although we tried, we didn't manage to raise a smile. Perhaps it was the weather!!

“Hard to beat for convenience and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We spent 4 very good nights in this Amiens Hotel.

We particularly enjoyed the great convenience it afforded. On the balmy summer evenings we either enjoyed the very good restaurant on the ground floor of Le Carlton or we wandered the very pleasant downtown area to find a spot. Le Carlton has a terrific breakfast, too at about 8.50. The service at Le Carlton was excellent.

We liked Amiens a lot and used it as a base to cycle the Somme and also to take the train to Paris. Amiens is just the right size and conveniently located. There's a very good cycle hire spot just opposite Le Carlton and the hotel is very close to the railway station. We did a lot of cycling at 3 euro per day. This is terrific value, but you need to leave 150 euro deposit.

The Cathedral is something to behold and don't miss the awe inspiring laser light show late on summer evenings. We were spell-bound by it and we are not religious people.

All in all Le Carlton was great value and we confidently recommend it.

“Very dirty and old rooms, excellent location”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Rooms are really very dirty. Never heard of a vacuum cleaner. In the bathroom everywhere hairs, dust and mold.
Bed is hard and noisy. Under the bed not cleaned since years. Everywhere dust.
Old and broken furniture
We could check in from 7.00a.m. according our reservation but the room was avaliable at 14.00.
According to website airconditioned in every room, but there's airco only in the restaurant.

You can better go to Holiday in Express at the opposite side of the street: very clean cheaper than Le Carlton and value for money, also included breakfast.

“Average hotel, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2010

Le Carlton is in a great location, directly opposite the train station which is not at all a 'tacky' part of town as is the usual case with train stations. It leads onto to a great little pedestrian only shopping mall and the town itself is very clean, there is obviously a lot of civic pride here. The canal area is just lovely. The hotel itself, although clean, is looking a bit tired and worn though. Our room was spacious but the bed was very hard and the room itself quite stark. The bathroom was also large but I don't like having hand held shower hoses in the bathtub. The staff were very friendly and check in and out was trouble free. For one night it was OK but perhaps a little overpriced for the standard on offer.
