A pleasant enough hotel on a main road. I'm not quite sure how some of these places get their star ratings though. Yes there was a swimming pool, although swimming would be a remarkable achievement given the size of it. I feel it would be more use as a dip pool for the massage area that was next to it.
The rooms I managed to peek into seemed tasteful and light enough in their pastel shades for the rear facing, more expensive rooms. As I was on business I was in the front of the hotel overlooking the road. Fortunately, being off season, there wasn't much traffic. However the bed was quite possibly the most uncomfortable one I have slept in for a few years. The TV was hiding up near the ceiling and I only knew it was there because I was striving to get some sleep and noticed a dark shadow in the rafters. The bathroom was a redesigned cupboard as was the separate shower.
The restaurant, like so many these days, tries to impress with large plates with not much food to accompany the china. A shame as the food was good, but at the prices paid not good value. I blame the servings on the fact there is so much in the way of TV cooking programmes where the emphasis is on presentation far too much. Breakfast was the standard European buffet style without anything hot !
As we visited in late October I presume the town was shutting down for winter. At least that is the impression the bar staff were giving out. Several times there were customers waiting for a drink with no-one at the bar to serve them. We had to get the receptionist to attend to the task. An apology may have made things better but not forthcoming unfortunately.
This may seem a real rant , but the hotel itself was very nice. It was just a shame the owners didn't seem to have the important things in the business foremost in their minds. The patrons.
