“Surprised at the Four Star rating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2009

A pleasant enough hotel on a main road. I'm not quite sure how some of these places get their star ratings though. Yes there was a swimming pool, although swimming would be a remarkable achievement given the size of it. I feel it would be more use as a dip pool for the massage area that was next to it.
The rooms I managed to peek into seemed tasteful and light enough in their pastel shades for the rear facing, more expensive rooms. As I was on business I was in the front of the hotel overlooking the road. Fortunately, being off season, there wasn't much traffic. However the bed was quite possibly the most uncomfortable one I have slept in for a few years. The TV was hiding up near the ceiling and I only knew it was there because I was striving to get some sleep and noticed a dark shadow in the rafters. The bathroom was a redesigned cupboard as was the separate shower.
The restaurant, like so many these days, tries to impress with large plates with not much food to accompany the china. A shame as the food was good, but at the prices paid not good value. I blame the servings on the fact there is so much in the way of TV cooking programmes where the emphasis is on presentation far too much. Breakfast was the standard European buffet style without anything hot !
As we visited in late October I presume the town was shutting down for winter. At least that is the impression the bar staff were giving out. Several times there were customers waiting for a drink with no-one at the bar to serve them. We had to get the receptionist to attend to the task. An apology may have made things better but not forthcoming unfortunately.
This may seem a real rant , but the hotel itself was very nice. It was just a shame the owners didn't seem to have the important things in the business foremost in their minds. The patrons.

“Night at the museum”

This hotel is located in a nice historical building in the center of town. It is certainly worth a look at, and I would fully recommend the restaurant - but I would not want to spend the night again.
I've been there on two occasions now, both times with a room facing the road which may not be very busy this time of the year, but it is the main road of the town leading to the ocean so there is always some traffic (not easy if you like to leave a window open at night). The heater couldn't be regulated (no such option), the room could have used some paint and new wallpaper, the bathroom has no seperate shower but just the bathtub (no curtain or anything so be sure to leave your clothes far enough away) and the floor freezing cold. All in all, not really comfortable or practical.
To say something positive, the hotel offers free WLAN and a parking lot (also included). The breakfeast is nice but seems too expensive.

“Gorgeous little boutique hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2008

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 3 nights, and found it to be a very charming little hotel, and would definitely go back if I were ever in Brittany (which is likely as we loved Brittany as well). It feels very traditionally French, and the food is absolutely brilliant. It's not that cheap to eat there, but it's good value and the langoustine's are the size of lobsters! If you like your seafood you'll be in heaven!

The staff are very friendly and accommodating, even though my French is dire and they didn't speak much English. On leaving, they printed out a map highlighting the speed cameras for me which was a kind touch I thought!

The rooms are very clean/comfortable and quirky with individualistic design and bright colours.

Whilst you won't be doing lengths in the pool, it's a fair size and is perfect for cooling off in on hot days.

I love staying in boutique style hotels, and this is up there with one of the best I've stayed in.

  • Liked — Individuality and the gorgeous seafood
  • Disliked — It's a bit of a trot from the beach, not a problem for us, but some might prefer nicer views etc.
