Having stayed in La Baule a number of times and finding that our usual choice of hotels were now far too expensive we went in search of another establishment and chanced upon the Villa Flornoy which was far better than the places we used to stay in and which was unbelieveably only a 2 star hotel. The reception staff and owners were charming, we had a lovely room on the 3rd floor overlooking the garden, the bedroom walls had been covered in toile de jouy fabric which was really lovely. Meals were served in a pretty dining room and as it was Easter there were lovely displays around the place with eggs and chickens and such like. The Hotel was very quiet and we will certainly return there as soon as we can.

If you need to stay somewhere in Pornichet or surrounding area, this is one of the better hotels. Small and family run, with very clean albeit smaller rooms. Located few minutes from main square, not far from almost anything in the town. I haven't tried the food in this hotel.

This hotel is only a few minutes walk from the front and the restaurants, so is ideally placed. The hotel (we stayed in September) I think is usually full board which we weren’t, so we were not able to eat in the hotel, so I can’t comment on the dinner, but the breakfast was great. It’s not a buffet breakfast you are brought a basket of bread and pastries and your tea of coffee and juice, which we actually quite liked and thought was very civilised.

The rooms are elegantly decorated and big enough with a very large bathroom with bath. We had a view over the garden to the back of the hotel which was fine as the only other view was the road at the front, which may well have been noisy, although I can’t comment.

The parking could be difficult as it was street parking, although saying that we always got a spot right outside the front door of the hotel on all three of the days we were staying.

For an evening meal I would strongly recommend the restaurant at the casino, up the road on the front. It’s walking distance and well worth the stroll. Although if it’s a weekend just make sure you are there for when they open at 7.30pm and you should get a table as it’s very popular.

The location is great for a beach holiday or for a jaunt up the coast to the harbour villages for a spot of lunch.

My wife and I traveled to Pornichet just to get out of Paris for a few days during a long vacation. We'd never been to the coast before, and we were a bit apprehensive. But, after a nice train ride from Paris, we were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel much better than its 2 star rating. Most of the front desk people spoke English, and they were very helpful in holding our bags, and also in answering our questions (like telling us where to rent a bike). Pornichet was great for a getaway weekend - the beach was nice, and there were a bunch of great, small restaurants. I think we had the best food (and dinner service) of our entire France trip in Pornichet.
