I stayed here for a couple of nights on arrival and before departure on the Portsmouth-Caen ferry.
It's a real old Grand Hotel which beautiful staircases and rooms which are a bit let down by the current Mercure branding. In fairness, it's probably in the price range that people passing by will pay though it would make a magnificent Sofitel if there was a market for it.
The access to the promenade is great for a brisk walk, the rooms are clean and functional and the breakfast was pretty good. Waking up to look out across the sea was a pleasure.
Cabourg has a few excellent restaurants which are reasonably priced and a few other interesting shops too. Worth a stop before heading deeper south.
