“Fantastic hotel, friendly staff and good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We booked here whilst on a touring holiday in France last year, using one of the late booking sites so got an excellent deal. Whilst not easy to find, it is in a beautiful setting. We had a room in the Orangery and were welcomed by efficient staff and reserved a table for dinner in the Cellar.

Full of history, although the surrounding area is somewhat disconcerting to walk through - part of the estate was sold at some point and is now a little run-down.

The meal was excellent, and I'd thorough recommend it.

“Good hotel close to the Great War (1914/18) battlefields”

If you are looking for a rearly good hotel with an outstanding Restaurant close to the first world battlefields of the Somme and Cambrai then this is the place for you.Situated in a wonderful 19th centuary Chateau on the outskirts of the town the rooms were clean and of a good standard. The staff were smart and very helpful. The Restuarant is discribed in some travel books as the best in Cambrai and this is born out by a wonderful dinner in its restaurent.Highly recommemded. The internal decor within the Chateau is wonderful.A very good breakfast is available.

Room Tip: try one of the rooms in the main building.

“A great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Having read the reviews, we knew that the cheapest rooms were in the park 200m from the Chateau and the Prestige rooms in the Chateau itself. We booked one of each! Versailles, on the first floor, with curved blacony window, exceeded all expectations - huge room, 10 ft ceilings, impeccable historic decor, modern bathroom, comfortable bed,,,etc The chalet accomodation was similar to that of a travel inn in the UK - full bath, 1 double and 1 single, TV, mini bar, room service! Pretty good value for the price we paid. Would definitely stay again. In order to find it, enter ALLEE SAINT ROCH in your satnav and you cant miss the Chateau - it's right at the end of it!

We also really enjoyed the meal in the restaurant - highly attentive staff, patient, kind and well organised.

Would definitly recommend.

Room Tip: VERSAILLES is the one with the balcony in the middle of the castle - beautiful!!

“Great Hotel, and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Stayed here years ago, but needed a nice hotel to round off a week's touring in Europe. We looked in St. Quentin, but weren't impressed, so drove the extra mile to Cambrai, and returned to this hotel.
Impressive facade, great service, and lovely clean comfortable rooms, we had one in the Orangerie, very nice, and good value. Free Wi-fi, but not accesible in the Orangerie, had to walk across and have a beer while I surfed, did my emails and booked the ferry from Calais back to Dover, oh the hardship.

Cannot recommend this place enough, it is a hidden gem.

“Loads of character and peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

We were not sure what to expect because you have to drive through a council estate to arrive at the property. Yet, as soon as you drive through the gates of the hotel's magnificient park, you step back in time. This nineteenth century's "nouveau rich" mansion provided us with a peaceful retreat from the long drive back to the UK from the French Riviera. We had booked the cheapest room, so we didn't have a chance to test a room in the chateau itself but our room was located in the Orangerie which is a building located next to the chateau, and used to be the stables. Our room was a bit tired, yet it was decorated in the Napoleon III style and was equiped with wifi (worked fine), a mini bar and tea, coffee facilities. We appreciated the full bathtub after our long drive, and the toileteries (shampoo, conditioner and soap) smelled divine. Our double bed was comfortable and we slept tight, only to be woken by the birds in the morning. We had breakfast in the chateau. The breakfast room feels like a Second Empire ballroom - high ceilings with cornices and roses, slightly creaking parket floors. We loved it, and the self-service breakfast offered all sorts of tasty viennoiseries, fruits, juices, cornflakes and cold meats. The staff was very friendly although you have to help yourself to your room and it could be tricky with heavy luggage through a few set of stairs. There is a free parking in the hotel park. You might meet a goat or two grazing next to your car. The city centre is about half an hour walk and a taxi costed us about 25 euros return. All in all we found this hotel to be very good value for money.
