Visited the Western Front with a party of eight. Had to change the booking a couple of times but the hotel was always helpful and friendly. Rooms are basic (no tea making stuff and -strangely - no shower curtains), but clean, warm and comfortable. Slept really well both nights. At least I did apparently there was someone snoring in our room but I never heard them! Staff are pretty good, the night porter was persuaded to open the bar after we got in late one night. One of our party left his specs after we checked out and they were returned to him by the next day after he asked for them with a note looking forward to seeing him at the Hotel Moderne soon. No frills, no chocolates on the pillows. WYSIWYG. I'll be back.
Far from modern.
Smeely drains.
Tiny room with paper thin walls.
Woken up at 5.45am by a noisy neighbour with the TV on.
Washing facilities grubby.
No tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Smashed my leg on the edge of the best 4 times trying to get to get to my side.
Electric sockets in the room in unusual placed positions
Didn't have breakfast decided against it.
Good location with easy parking either in front of hotel (paid during daytime (not Sunday) or garage around the corner.
Friendly staff (and speak English) and clean hotel and clean rooms. Breakfast is ok, bar is ok, but better go to the left of the hotel (if you are facing the front of the hotel).
Good restaurant for fish or mussels just around the corner.
Rooms are tidy and clean, but smallish. Rooms can get warm easily as there is not air-co and the windows open only so much that little fresh air coming in.
Leaving the window open at night is OK and will make it more comfortble but you wil get woken up in the morning by the noise of the fountain/cars around the station and/or mopets.
All in all I think I would come back here if I was in the area again.
Location is great & hotel OK for this standard in France, but it was VERY cold during our stay & our room had little or no heat for the 3 days we we were there. The heat came on at odd times: as we were going out at 9.30 am, or at 8pm as we were also going out. By the time we got back either evening or later at night, the radiator was cold.
Compalints to the management met with assurances that it would be put right, but it wasn't.
My advice is to use this hotel only during the summer months.
