“OK Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

We stayed here for one night on our way through. The hotel is basic and simple. Our room in the court yard was very basic and poorly equipped with a very small bathroom and an uncomfortable bed. There is no A/C and only a small window above the french doors so I imagine it would be very hot in the height of summer.
The owner was helpful and gave us a map of the town on which she had marked recommended restaurants.
Breakfast was good value, by french standards, at 6 euros per person, fruit juice cereals, croissants and french bread. There was secure parking near by for 10 euros a night.
The hotel is very central and was OK for a one night stop over. I would not want to be staying longer.

“Unfriendly owner, much better places to stay!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

I booked four rooms at this hotel back in March based on reviews on TripAdvisor. I specifically requested the ground floor rooms facing the courtyard, and this request was agreed with the owner once again a few days before arrival. However, when we arrived for the 5.30pm check-in, we were told that the four courtyard rooms were no longer available! Two of the rooms were in the courtyard, one was on the first floor overlooking the courtyard and one was facing the road, which we specifically did not want (we were assured that the room was not noisy, however, the couple who occupied it, not light sleepers, did not get a wink of sleep as it is on a main road which does not stop all night). At this point we should have just walked away as we had not paid a deposit, but being British we just took what we had been given. The rooms were clean and the bedding and towels new, but the size of the rooms were small and the bathrooms were a joke. It was like staying in one of the French motel chains like B&B or Formula1.
The owner was not at all welcoming and she seemed to forget that we were her paying guests. After checking in to our rooms, we sat at one of the patio tables in the courtyard to discuss plans for the evening with our friends. Although the table we had sat at was outside the two rooms we had been allocated, the owner very rudely told us to move to another table because the occupants of the neighbouring room would be returning soon and would not want us sitting near their room. We were just sitting talking quietly, not having a wild party!
When we went to leave the hotel to go into town, we were not allowed out until we had paid for our rooms in advance. Only then were we given the access code to use upon our return.
The breakfast was not good and consisted of a hot drink and stale bread/croissants. We had it purely for convenience as we off to Aix-en-Provence, but it really wasn't worth the 8€.
We had paid 10€ for secure garage parking for our classic cars, but it can't have been that secure as the cars had advertising fliers under the windscreen when we came to leave.
Our group covered over 2,000 miles in 2 weeks and stayed in a variety of hotels along the way, but this was the only one we did not enjoy. I would not recommend staying at this hotel and really, there is no reason to stay in Millau which is quite disappointing. Just visit the bridge and arrange to stay elsewhere!

“My first disappointment through Trip Advisor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

My cousin & I stayed at the Hotel Emma Calve for one night in May during a trip to Millau especially to view the famous viaduct. I had booked the hotel on the strength of Trip Advisor reviews but have to say I felt very let down. The woman manager/owner was less than friendly on our arrival & her manner had not improved by the next morning. I asked her where in town the best views of the viaduct could be gained. She was adamant you could NOT see the viaduct from anywhere in town, although I had read on TA that you could. Actually there is a beautiful view of the viaduct from the bridge over the river where you can actually see all seven pylons.
We found the room very small for 2 people & as there were only French doors it would have been most uncomfortable in the heat of summer. We did not try the breakfast so I cannot comment on this, although my cousin said it looked very good. OK, so it's only 65 Euro per night - maybe I was expecting too much, but this was definitely the poorest service we experienced during our month long holiday,

“Hotel Tired”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2010

Chose Emme Calve based on reviews here.
Travelled with wife & another couple.
The hotel did not live up to expectations.
The rooms are small & tired. The bathrooms are particularly cramped.
(Rooms 8 & 12).
Breakfast is very basic.
There is no bar. - This is the first hotel with no bar I've stayed at.
There IS secure parking available.
Lady owner has only had it since last July.
She speaks good English, & says she is planning improvements.
