As a group of Aussie cyclists we spent a long time looking at the reviews of places to stay in and around Luchon and were delighted with our final choice. Villa Portillon did not let us down.
It is sometimes difficult to make a choice about where to stay, some properties look fantastic but are in the middle of nowhere, where as others look like they will fit the bill but fall short.
Villa Portillon however is neither. Situated in a lovely quiet location just a hundred or so metres from the main tree lined street of Luchon, our group of 30+ antiipodean cyclists were totally blown away with not only the warm and hospitable welcome that we received, but more importantly the help and support that we were given to make the most of our pilgrimage to the heart of the Tour de France in the Pyrenees.
Not only were we delighted with Cadel finishing in yellow, we were also blown away with the quality of service, the attention to detail and the genuine friendship provided by the great team of head chef Annette, and the font of all Col knowledge Mike.
It was not our first venture into Europe, but from the start until the end it was probably our best. Great location, superb service and to be truthful a genuine interest in us as a group.
5 star cuisine, 5 star service = just the best. Thank you for making our European vacation such a memorable one.
