The chateau is in a dream setting - by the banks of the Tarn in the stunning gorge. It is a classy place and really has the atmosphere of an old castle. Our bedroom the Anne was small but very well- furnished and overlooking the car-park. Other more expensive rooms overlooking the gorge itself would be worth the extra. We got a last-minute booking hence the room. Our big, big, disappointment though was the food in the evening. I had the gastronomic menu for 60 Euros and it was a disaster. The lobster tail in the starter was tired and tasteless- the turbot the same and so on. Wonderfully presented meal but it was as if the chef didn't really know how to cook but dolled everything up to cover up for this. Reading some other reviews I had hoped that this would not be the case but sadly I left with literally a bad taste in my mouth. It is such a romantic setting and I was hoping for an amazing gastronomic experience - such a let-down. The wine list is very extensive and very expensive. The sommelier was excellent and really knew his wines. Moving on.... the swimming pool is a dream and on a hot day what better place to relax. The nearest village - Ste. Enemie is a pleasant place to relax if a bit touristy. Further on is Florac - a wonderful small town with character and excellent bars and restaurants. The Tarn gorge is stunning and the Chateau de La Caze is worth it for a special treat. So ten out of ten for setting and atmosphere. Two out of ten for food! Sorry!
