“Excellent location. Good service. It was cold.”

I visited here recently with work.

It is easy to find once through Tenby.

We arrived late, around 9.30pm. The hotelier had been working in Tenby during the day. The heating had gone off at some stage during the day. It was turned on minutes before we arrived. West Wales is very cold in the winter.

My room was very nice. Large, clean and well organised. Similarly the bathroom was a good size. On the downside, the shower was not fixed, or even fixable, to the wall. Further there was no shower curtain so the floor got a little wet !

I do not feel the cold much. However, I found the room temperature to be bitterly cold. A colleague spent all night wearing all her clothes apparently.

Breakfast was very good. The view from the dining room was lovely. There is a nice garden that leads down towards the water. Throughout the visit the hotelier was helpful and friendly. There is little call for hotels in the mid winter in West Wales. I am confident that the hotel is very good when warm.

Would I recommend this place ? Yes, but take your thermals in winter.

“Lovely room and recommend the sea view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

We stayed here for one night as a friend had booked the close by Manorbier castle for her birthday weekend. My husband and I wanted a room nearby and were not disappointed. Our friends ate at the Castle Mead the night before we arrived and said it was very good. Our room was the ground floor, seafacing twin. It was a huge room with a brilliant view of the gardens and sea. It had a spa bath, tea coffee, TV etc.
The staff and the breakfast were just superb. Not much else to say as our stay was very brief but I would recommend the hotel and would stay again if in the area.

“A perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

We spent two nights here and loved it. I had read the reviews beforehand and had guessed (correctly) that it is an old country house hotel in need of a little updating. It is quite old fashioned but has character and the perfect location. We were lucky and probably had the best room (due to a cancellation). It was off the sitting room area and was an enormous room with the most glorious view of the garden, church and the sea. The bathroom had a bath and hand held shower. The bed had blankets not duvets. I think the room had been the owners until recently and may well be better than the other rooms. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. We had dinner on both nights. If there is any criticism it is that the portions were so huge I hardly saw anyone manage a dessert.
Manorbier is a delightful village and there are lovely coastal walks. We hope to return to the area and Castle Mead.

“Excellent food and friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

Stayed recently at this hotel. The views were wonderful and the food was absolutely gorgeous with a wide selection of choices. We had a wonderful time and were made to feel very welcome. The rooms could do with a bit of maintenance here and there, but the wonderful scenery and the fantastic food more than compensated for this. The actual service and linen provided was excellent and the beds were very comfortable. Would love to go back again.

“Nice little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

We stayed for 3 nights in this nice little hotel - and we liked our stay. Of course the hotel is quite old, and you could see that everywhere, but that also made a very enjoyable atmosphere. And the location of the hotel is excellent. And we who appreciate good food are more than willing to praise the restaurant. Most excellent food indeed. All in all a very pleasant stay.
