We arrived without a reservation and very tired after looking around the cathar areas. We were a bit desperate to get a room for the night as it was getting a little late and had a 4yr old in tow. We came across Font Romeu, it was only because a mountain road was closed we went to this town. I was told €61 plus €7.50 breakfast for each person, including Lucy. I re-questioned the price for my 4yr old, and she shrugged her shoulders.
We were then shown a room overlooking ... nothing .. at the back of the hotel. AFter asking for a different room we were given a fabulous view of the snow capped Pyrennees, with a small bacony. Cracking for ending the day with a glass or three of the local cheap red.
Next morning we morning we went for breakfast and were handed a basket containing a couple of pieces of bread stick and coissants, One cup of coffee each for me and the missus, 2 small glasses of orange juice.. to accompany it.. and butter and jam... nothing for the little one !
Now we weren't charged the €7.50 for Lucy, and I know she isn't entitled to anything, but friendlyness and a glass of juice thats costs pennies would go a long way toward making this a more pleasant stay and hence receive a top review.
The review before mine says (in French) about the service and loyalty being excellent, I have to disagree. It wasn't bad, but a long way off being excellent. Wether this is a French/English thing I don't know. I could go on but I won't. I love the French way of life with a passion. I will continue to come here, even with the weak pound. Unfortunately I will not be recommending this hotel to friends.
