“Great if you have a car”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

This is a great hotel in a beautiful location. We only had one night here and wish we could have stayed longer. The room was huge and spotless and the breakfast in the morning was excellent (they had pancakes!). It is a bit out of town so you need a car if you want to head to the beach or to a restaurant. The pool and hottub looked great, we wish we had time to enjoy them,

“High standard, but lack of shuttle service to Collioure reduces the score”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

My wife and I stayed one week at Les Mouettes Hotel in July 2009.
The view from the rooms with sea view was stunning, very few hotels can offer a better view. On the other hand, in front of the hotel there is a road with very heavy traffic and also a double track railway. To take a rest at the balcony could therefore be a noisy experience. Double glazing made that we did not hear the traffic during the night.
The hotel shows a very high standard, the rooms are spacious, they are kept clean and they are well equipped. The hotel proves a high standard in a well performed total look. The free wifi was very unstable, and it turned out to be an annoying procedure to try to check the mailbox.
The pool area is kept in the same high standard and we could see the caretaker working all over the area day after day. It is clear to everyone that the policy of the management (the owner) is to keep the hotel in perfect shape - and so he has succeeded..
The breakfast (not included in room price) was very OK, the lunchmenu was simple with some light alternatives, but OK.
The hotel has no offer for dinner, so if you are hungry and have no car, you have a big problem.
Collioure is the nearest and most attractive city in the region, but the 2 km distance from the hotel to the city centre could only be walked during the day, in the evening it was totally dark and not secure. The taxi capacity was next to zero and could not be reckoned as a mean of transportation back to the hotel. The hotel should together with the neighboors (Hotel Golf and the camping site) organize a shuttle service, at least one trip to Collioure about 19.00 and return at 23.00. I can not recommend this hotel as long as they do not take the responsibility for such a shuttle service (which is a normal service at similar hotels many other places). We will certainly return to the region, but we have noticed that there are hotels in the Collioure area (3 and 4 stars) that combine standard and viscinity to the city centre.
As a result of the lack of shuttle service, I had to drive to Collioure every evening and fight for a parking place (the railway station turned out to be the best alternative), with just a small taste of the splendid local wines to the dinner.

“Lovely hotel, but you must have a car!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2009

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, good sized room with nice bathroom, balcony with superb view over the Med (there is a fairly busy road and railway line inbetween) but good double glazing shuts this out at night. Excellent pool area, which I had to myself most of the time. Really clean, gets the sun most, if not, all of the day, lovely jacuzzi. Hotel provides separate towels for the pool. Good value breakfast, plenty of choice from cold meats, cereal, eggs, toast, pastries etc. Good coffee! Surrounding area beautiful, particularly going west towards the Spanish border. Try the local land train (or should I say off road train). Good restaurants, excellent wines. Will visit this area again. We flew in Carcassonne from Bournemouth (courtesy of Ryanair £10 flight), and drove down through the mountains, 2 days on the coast then back via the motorway to Carcassone for 2 nights. Lovely weather, people very friendly. Lots to see and do. Recommended.

“Lovely stop over”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2008

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of September. Our main holiday had been on the Costa Dorada in spain and we used this as a stop over for our journey home (by car). I have to say, I was really impressed. The rooms we were allocated were gorgeous - spacious and clean and overlooked the sea with their own private terraces. The staff were all helpful and friendly and I would definitely stay here again. Two negatives: - The price of drinks/snacks were expensive so if you fancy a bag of crisps or a glass of wine, make sure you purchase "off site". The other, quite alarmingly (!) was the fact that whilst sitting at the pool, we watched the maid walk up the steps to our room & let herself in with 2 complete strangers who for whatever reason wanted to have a look around!! I'd imagine they were potential guests but still..... they could've waited until we had checked out the following day!

Overall a lovely place and I will certainly consider booking this hotel again next year.

  • Liked — The rooms and the view
  • Disliked — Nothing really to dislike, except random people being allowed access to our room!
