“A Perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

A group of nine of us stayed at the Auberge du Roua in July 2010 taking 5 rooms. From the beginning when I booked the accommodation, via email and on the phone, 6 months earlier Magalie could not have been more helpful. When we arrived Magalie was there to greet us and we were delighted with our choice. The auberge is set in a lovely tranquil garden with wonderful surrounding views and has been lovingly restored. The younger members of our group loved early morning runs from the auberge. The pool is attractive and pristine clean with plenty of sun loungers and parasols in the garden and on the terrace.
Our rooms were bright clean and very nicely furnished and the bathroom was sparkling and large (we ourselves had a superior room). The large bed was very comfy.
Breakfast served on the terrace overlooking the pool was excellent: everything you could want from a continental - style breakfast. There is no lunch available but we knew that before we booked, most people would have a car to pop out but we did hear a grumble about that from another guest which we didn’t feel was justified. We had booked dinner for one night for the 9 of us and everything was perfect from the drinks we had first seated round the pool to the food and wine and the service - highly recommended and a beautiful setting as the sun went down.
We chatted to Magalie and her husband on numerous occasions as we went to and fro through the open plan reception area and asked Magalie to tell us of a local, quiet beach and she directed us perfectly with a map to an ideal spot with hardly anyone there - a difference to the bustle of Argèles! Free wifi is available in the reception area a good plus.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Auberge and would certainly recommend. It was everything we wanted and expected.

If your in this neck of the woods and you need some peace and some TLC to charge your batteries then this is the place. We've been on the road for a month with a 3month old child and just needed some time out in comfort. Great staff, comfortable hotel, from 65 euros up to 140 odd euros for the best rooms. A small hotel with a fabulous restaurant. We decided to stay in and feast for both our nights here. Not cheap, but worth every penny, The food quality is 1st class and presentation superb, the tastes, just wonderful. A wine list that one can read and is very extensive. If you compare what you can pay out & about on rubbish food in the area, then it's good value for the quality and taste. Wonderful. Good sized rooms, lovely pool and view from the back of the hotel to watch the sunset and have a beer or a nice glass of vino, Would be great with a loved one. Wednesday nights until mid September is BBQ night, but again this is fine dining, but at 28 euros for 2 great courses you can't go wrong. Two of the best meals I've had in Europe. Finding the place is another matter so have a good map. 15mins from Collioure or 7mins from Ageles sur la mer. The food alone is worth the stay or if your in the area just come for a meal at sunset.

“Could have stayed a month”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

A quiet, very elegantly equipped small hotel with a first class restaurant and an interesting wine list. The combination (and the pool) iare delightful. The staff were unobtrusive but professional - just right. Madame is a perfect host.

“Excellent hotel with a very good restaurant and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

We stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks in june and we really enjoyed every minutem of our stay. The hotel is cosy, clean and have a good location. The restaurant is really good and the prices are reasonable compared to the very high quality. There is a nice and quiet garden with a good swimming pool. You only have to be aware of it is not possible to buy anything at lunchtime but you can walk to the village within 10 minutes.

“Quiet and beautifully restored but not much choice for eating or drinking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2009

A tastefully decorated hotel in a peaceful location, but not particularly easy to find - even for my satnav - or convenient for the town. This would be alright if the hotel offered a bar and reasonably priced meals but the restaurant was more for the special occasion - very good food - but expensive if using for 2 or 3 nights.
Owing to a change of dates there was only a suite available to us. Plenty of space but why no bath and so sparsely furnished? For example no dressing table. If you want a view of the mountains as mentioned elsewhere then the back of the hotel is not a good substitute. A small point perhaps, but given the number of British and other foreigners a TV channel in English could perhaps be provided.
The hotel is well placed for attractive places such as Ceret and Collioure but gives the impression once there of being a little isolated and perhaps taking advantage of no competition for eating and drinking in the immediate area.
