We prebooked and stopped here enroute from Spain to Calais for 3 days.
Having arrived with some trepidation given some of the other reviews this hotel has received, we were surprised to find that the reality was totally different. Friendly helpful staff, welcoming reception, clean rooms, nice pool with plenty of sunbeds, and all this in a lovely woodland setting. It appears that a lot of modernisation work has been done, and Odalys, who I suspected to be the new owner, has carried this out in light of the bad reviews. However, having not stayed here before, I can only summise that this is the case.
The breakfasts at 10 Euro a pop, and the 2 course set menu at around 20 Euro each were a tad on the pricey side. So, do what we did, forget about these, and take a 2 minute drive over to the Crescendo restuarant at Carrefour, where breakfasts, crepes, meals and snacks were less than half the the price. There's even a MacDonalds next door for any of you philistines out there!
The hotel is part of a resort which includes chalets and static caravans, catering mainly for families, so the evening entertainment and animation is geared around this. Don't expect the proceedings to be in English either as this is mainly a French occupied resort. This is not a downside in the slightest, just that you might want to find your own evening entertainment elsewhere, such as in nearby Argeles, if French is not your lingua franca.
Don't let the negative reviews put you off. If you demonstrate that you are trying to make an effort in saying simple things like hello and goodbye in French, instead of being an impatient English tourist, then the staff will and do reciprocate the courtesy.
All in all, a lovely stay, and we we would go again next year.
