Stayed here for a week on a business trip. Loved the location and proximity to train and the office. The history of the hotel is great and there is a lot of potential there. But it was not the best experience. First off we flew from the US and arrived at 11am. We were told our rooms MIGHT be ready by 3. I have traveled to Europe literally dozens of times and I've never been refused a room after a transatlantic flight. So that sucked. And the room was TINY. Barely contained a full sized bed and desk. Bathroom was gorgeous, with an awesome shower but traveling companions had no such luck...both had bathrooms with tubs and hand held shower wands...no ability to take a real shower. Breakfast was BASIC at best and uncomfortable with the stuffy service. But no other way to get coffee in the morning. The locks on the rooms were difficult to deal with, especially with jet lag. And we were really lickled and dimes at check out, wanted to charge a coworker for a broken remote control that was broken when he arrived. Overall the condiiton of the hotel is shappby chic at best. A lot of work going on wish started very early in the day. And the devileries and trash pick up that occured every night just below half of the rooms made sleeping through the night impossible. No ac means you have to leave windows opn, which means major noise...viscous cycle. If you stay here ask for a room overlooking the city...probably more expensive but you might get a good nights sleep. The location made the experience worthwhile, but I'll be bringing sleeping pills and ear plugs if I return. And if you'r ea runner and think that taking a mornng jog in the attached park would be a nice plan don't count on it. It was NEVER open when I had time to run (gates all locked and fence was easily 12 feet high) which was before or after work. And running around the town stinks due to the excessive use of stone on sidewalks and streets...bad for feet and ankles.
