“Boarder line 4 star hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012 via mobile

On the plus side the beds are comfortable, the rooms are quiet however on the minus side for an advertised 4 star hotel the carpet was stained , the tiles were chipped and broken in the bathroom, the towels were frayed, the bedding smelt of cigarettes although a non smoking room, it is a long walk to the Palace and the food is terrible, the club sandwich was not what you would expect it was premade and reheated, I suspect the pasta was microwaved, the breakfast staff stood together talking and basically did nothing I had to get up interrupt and ask for coffee on balance I would find it very difficult to recommend this hotel.

“The walk through charming Versailles is for free!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Those familiar with Novotels will not find many surprises. Nice, clean, friendly staff, good value for money. The only drawback is the distance to the castle, whose name it bears (and the public transportation into Paris (RER). You can do it by foot – if you're a good walker. On the other hand, the walk through charming Versailles is delightful.

“An Average Hotel that I don't Reccomend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I was on a business trip and found the front desk staff in particular to be less than helpful when asking for recommendations and/or general questions.

I was on a business trip with colleagues and there was construction going on the floor above me (the block of rooms right above mine) the entire week I was there...

I would not recommend this hotel for business or personal travel.

“Good value and service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

We stayed here for 5 nights leading up to Christmas. Decided to stay in Versailles to save some money instead of Paris - spent two days visiting Versailles Palace, a day at Disneyland, and another day taking train in/out of Paris. Was a good base and the price was right for two rooms (one family room at discount rate) for our family of four (older children). On the plus side, the rooms were decent size and quiet. A bit of a walk to town & the Palace but we didn't mind the exercise as the weather was not too cold. The girls did breakfast a couple mornings without us, although we had to have the bill adjusted when we checked out as they charged us when childrens breakfast was supposed to be complimentary. I tried the breakfast buffet the last morning, but was not really impressed - the croissants were ok, the crepes were refrigerator cold, eggs were not real. Would recommend eating elsewhere, or just do the City Breakfast in the bar for €7.

On the downside, the bedding smelled sour - we never quite figured out why this was, but it put us off every night when we had to sleep in the bed. The room was way too hot, and you cannot turn down the heat! So, we opened the window every day when we got back and first thing in the morning. Not a restful sleep as you spend the night kicking off the heavy comforter and putting it back on, etc etc. They need to fix the central airconditioning in the hotel. It seems from past review, we are not the only customers with similar complaint.

But, overall, it is a decent hotel - clean, with good service - and it suited our purposes nicely. We would go back, if they fix the a/c and provide bedding that smells fresh.

“Hotel OK But "Eat Out"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

Hotel is fine for weekend break, quite location but at least 15 minute walk to palace not 5 as advertised. Room was very hot even with windows open and heating off, A/C not working or turned off for the winter which made it very difficult to sleep We paid for full breakfast which turned out to be a mistake! the usual cakes, bread, meats and cheeses all OK but hot selection very poor. The scrambled egg is of the powdered instant type, tasteless and cold, totally inedible. Also had to ask every morning for cerial bowls as staff not attentive to things running out. That said we did complain about the breakfast and were given full refund on our bill without question, all well and good but for a 4 star hotel i would expect better service and food selection/quality.
