“OK place if ...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

... you want to stay in Paris without paying too much, don't care that you're a 20 minute metro ride outside of town and get a clean but basic place.

I stayed there for two nights while attending a conference at CNIT in the business / shopping district La Defense. This hotel was the only one close to the conference center (a five minute walk, the metro to paris city center also leaves from there) and within the price range my company would pay. The room was clean with comfy enough bed with clean sheets (so not to worry about bed bugs, as in other "cheap" Paris hotels). As you can also book rooms for weekly rates, the room had a little kitchenette. All in all the room was basic, but had a little balcony to sit on.

The hotel itself is not one of the top notch places, the lobby stank of rubbish and in the elevator parts of the mirror were missing, nevertheless the staff at check-in was friendly enough and helped me out with a map of Paris and some information where to go - all that in good english.

All that being said, I would never pay a 100,- EUR in another city for a place like that. For Paris that is one of the cheaper places where you actually get a clean room.

If you have to do business or a conference at the close La Defense and are on a budget, or just want to spend a few days in Paris and don't mind having to take the Metro to go into town, the place is a good choice. The area around it is a quiet and safe neighborhood, with a McDonalds, Subway and little supermarkets close by.

Room Tip: Some rooms seem not to have a balcony, so try to get one.

“Basic hotel with rubbish breakfast!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

Just returned from a 2 night stay with my mum at this hotel. Before I went I visited the citea la defense website and found the hotel which stated it had an indoor pool. When we got there in our room there was a booklet with the pool opening details, but when I asked in reception where the pool was they said that particular hotel didn't have one. Very disappointed and mislead.
The room was very basic and had a kitchenette which consisted of a miscrowave and hob. We didn't use it but when we went to wash up our plates and cups you aren't provided with any washing up liquid so a warm rinse had to do.
On the second night we booked breakfast for the morning and told the opening times were 8 till 10. We went down to the breakfast room at 8 and it had approx. 6 tables in it (even though the hotel accomodates 185 rooms) and was so busy we couldn't get it in. The room was tiny and the continental breakfast was basic. We grabbed a couple of crossiants and went back to our room. We ventured back down there at half 8 to see if we could get a coffee which had run out, just like everything else. The waitress didn't seem to care and just went about her own business. Absolute shambles and waste of money considering it's 7 euro's each.
The location of the hotel was quite good. We were about 10 minutes walk from La Defense. The hotels book you taxi's if you ask them to to get you to the major attractions. We walked to the arche de triompe and eiffel tower which took about an hour. Fun to see all the side streets etc though.
Overall extremely basic hotel with an average location. I personally wouldn't revisit.

“Pleasant neighborhood, close to Metro, good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

My 10th floor studio apartment was very pleasant, I had a nice view. I was especially happy to find that the neighborhood was very calm during day and night. Courbevoie shops are a 2 minute walk away; Auchan hypermart is a 10 minute walk away at La Defense; self-service laundry is 5 minute walk away. The price is very reasonable, but it is a basic self-catering apartment with clearing 1x a week, and what service there was at the front desk was variable in quality. Internet access was good. The commute into Paris was not a problem because La Defense is on Metro line 1 and counts as Zone 2 for Navigo card. The swimming pool in basement was closed. NB this hotel is in Courbevoie, not in Paris, I don't know why Tripadvisor can't correct the listing.

“I enjoyed it there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

I got a good deal on this hotel, and I decided to try it out even though it seemed to be situated a bit far away from the center of Paris. And that is true - it is situated a bit far out in a business are with lots of tall buildings and not a lot of French cosiness.

However, that isn't really a problem because the metro is just a 10 min walk from the hotel, and it takes you to for instance the Arc of Triumphe in 10 minutes, so you can easily get to experience all the wonderful things that Paris has to offer :-) The metro line going to La Defense (nr. 1) is a good one because it stops at several of the major attractions in Paris, so you don't even have to switch train.

The hotel room was very clean, quiet and comfortable, and I really enjoyed the kitchenette with my own fridge etc.
I booked and paid for a single room but got a double room, so that was nice. A 3 min walk from the hotel there's a supermarket and a McDonald's. Just ask for it in the reception. The staff wasn't exactly chatty and happy-clappy, but their English was good and they were able to help me with a new plug since I had forgot to bring my adapter for my laptop.
Oh, and speaking of the laptop - their free internet is excellent! It worked perfectly all the time, and I really enjoyed that.

You should also check out the huge shopping mall "Les Quatre Temps", which is situated right at the metro station La Defense. Actually you can walk directly from the metro to the mall. They have lots of shops and lots of places to eat - and a cinema with English movies.

All in all the hotel is not a cosy typical French place to stay, but if you get a good deal, then it's definitely worth trying it out because even though it's a bit far away, you can easily get anywhere quickly. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel and I could easily be going back next time I get to Paris :-)
