“Not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The hotel is located on the edge of a business area. It took quite some effort to find a French restaurant in the evening as most restaurants we found in the area were ethnic or fast food.

The hotel is a little dated but perfectly comfortable. My room was adequate but the bathroom was very small. The road noise was irritating so I had to use ear plus to sleep.

Breakfast was very good.

“Nice Property, Good Breakfast, but inconsistent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I stayed at this hotel for work meetings. It was my first time staying at this hotel in la Defense. I stayed at the Renaissance in the past but it proved to be far more expensive...but you get what you pay for.

The Mercure was relatively inexpensive compare to the Renaissance. This is not a bad hotel in anyway. Well maintained, above average room size, free Wi-Fi and a free breakfast that actually had hot food. My room actually had a view of the Eiffel tower, so this was great for me. But while my stay was not bad as other reviews stated, I did have some interesting challenges checking in.

The first desk attendant would not check me in before 12:00 without paying for a full night. I was coming from the US; I arrived at 8am and could not justify paying a full nights fee for 4 hours. But the second gentleman (12:01) was very friendly, explained everything, (Free Wi-Fi, shuttles and breakfast and offered to put me in a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower)

The room was stocked with the new standard of freebies, one bottle of water, a few cookies, teas and coffee. I had my own thermostat which is not always common. Better than many EU hotels, I had two outlets in the sleeping area and one in the bathroom. While this may seem trivial, if you have as many electronics that need charging as I do, you’ll understand. Finally and most pleasantly surprisingly was the number of channels in the TV in English. I was unfortunately stuck in the room all day as it was extremely cold and the airline lost my luggage, so I was without my warmest clothing.

All in all I would gladly stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an outide view of the EIffel Tower. Rooms 37+ abover the 5th floor

“Not the best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Was quite disappointed. Restaurant staff were rude, the food was awful.

Room are like something built from ikea with limited space.

Would not and did not return when requested to return to Paris for business.

“Good location, average rooms and poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

4 point review:
- Its conveniently located within walking distance from a number of corporate offices including Total and Areva and a 15 minute walk from CNET. There is a small mall next door and plenty of restaurants nearby
- The rooms are ok with all the basic requirements - internet is of good speed. Room service and breakfast are poor
-Service levels are quite poor. On the second day of our visit the all the elevators were being serviced simultaneously and the staff wouldnt even tell us how long we had to wait!
- Would only reccomend this Hotel if you are price conciouss.
