My husband and I stayed at this hotel as part of a 3 week tour around France – we hadn’t pre-planned or booked anything, so all the hotels we stayed at were found along the way. If you’re doing a similar trip, I’d suggest picking up a Logis or Inter-Hotel guide (any hotel affliated to these 2 groups will have a full guide you can take away), as this was our starting point for finding hotels – all were about 2-star grade (equivalent to 3-star in UK).
This particualr hotel was part of the Logis group and is located right next to the station. No problem with this as the station isn't huge and we didn't hear any noise in our 1 night there. We were really only staying here on a quick stopover as our main destination was to go to Blois the next morning, and then on to the South, so we didn't visit mcuh of Vendome but it seems a nice enough town.
The hotel has a little courtyard and car park round the back, which is lovely and very secure for your vehicle if you're driving. Rooms are pretty small and basic, but had everything you could need (except a hairdryer). Staff were very friendly and helpful and we found the free wi-fi invaluable as we managed to download the next set of French maps onto our mobile phone sat nav, which really helped with finding hotels over the course of our trip!
We didn't have dinner in the restaurant as we thought it was a little expensive. Instead we opted to walk to the main road (only a couple of mins) where there were a choice of local restaurants to choose from. We did have breakfast at the Capricorne, which was nothing special. Nothing wrong with it either - just a standard continental breakfast buffet.
Overall, I wouldn't want to stay here for an extended period, but for a short stopover it does the job.
