I stopped over on my way driving Nice to London. I got the number off the tourist information website and booked the hotel without seeing it.

The bedroom:

1) Room stank of smoke - really unpleasant
2) The wallpaper was coming off the walls
3) There was no headboard on the bed and the wallpaper was dirty from other people's hair etc touching the walls.
4) Hotel is situated on a busy road. Noise is mainly kept out by double glazing, but too noisy to open the windows.

You felt that you just did not want to touch anything in the bedroom.

The bathroom was OK as were the ground floor common parts. Receptionist was nice, I should have asked her for another room.

Spent one night here en route to Lyon. Room overlooked street /junction with a pretty view over nicely planted flowerbeds but there was a lot of noise from traffic and from the nearby train station. Room was pretty basic and not particularly attractive, ditto the bathroom - all a bit institutional. TV didn't work. Receptionist on arrival was terminally bored and unhelpful (and we were speaking french) - no, there was no restaurant (there is, just billed separately from hotel) or car parking (there is a secure garage around the corner.) Receptionist the next morning however couldn't have been nicer. Breakfast (in the non-existant restaurant!) was ok apart from a charmless chap who appeared when we were serving ourselves at the buffet and demanded to know where in the room we were sitting (it was nowhere near full) .....rather odd.

Having read the good reviews on this site we were disappointed. Our party had four rooms and they all had problems. Our room was dirty - the bedspread was dark grey around the floor and the shower was mouldy. The shutters were sealed shut so there was no natural light. The room overlooked a very busy junction so we couldn't have the windows open anyway - luckily the airconditioning was excellent and the soundproofing effective. The bathroom was seriously overdue for refurbishing. The decorations were eccentric and the breakfast was poor - the croissants were so greasy nobody could eat them but the bread was ok. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and helpful and the WiFi worked. The hotel does not serve dinner but there are lots of restaurants about half a mile away along the river bank. We had a delicious meal at the Cafe Francais.

Despite being at a crossroads in town, this was a very nice reasonable hotel. The room was tad small, the view was rubbish, overlooking a back yard of some sort, but everything else was very nice. The breakfast was an absolute delight in a very pretty little restaurant area. The staff could not have been more helpful. Parking was about 100 yards away down the hill, but secure and dry.
The town is ok. We found a very nice restaurant for our evening meal, finding the hotel restaurant just a bit above average in pricing. We were only there one night which is all we'd have liked really. We stayed in 14 diffent hotels etc on this 19 day trip and this hotel is one we'd return to again.
