We stayed here for 1 night at the end of March on the way to the Alps. Macon was a good place to stop after a long days drive but finding a 'nice' hotel proved a little more difficult. The hotel description and photos looked good but in reality didn't live up. We chose this hotel as it also offerred a family room capable of sleeping the 5 of us. The room had 2 double beds and a single put-u-up. The decoration and facilities were basic, the linen smelt stale and the bathroom old, dark and not particularly clean. The shower was hand held with no curtain but you wouldn't want to sit in the bath. The toilet seat was broken making it difficult to sit on.
The main hotel was in urgent need of updating and decoration. The proprietor didn't speak English and was not very friendly -we had trouble requesting more towels despite booking in advance for a family of 5. The hotel is on the main road which is very busy and very noisey. It was impossible to leave the window open because of the noise, but the smell of the room was suffocating. There is parking but it is very tight and if you want an early start you are likely to be blocked in. The breakfast was the best part of the stay (fruit juice, jam and rolls, tea or coffee), or was it the relief of leaving!!
