“Seven visitors can't be wrong!”

My husband and I have stayed there, my brother, his wife and son have stayed there and close friends have stayed there and we all agree that a night at the Hotel Le Paris Nice with dinner in their dinning room is well worth the visit. As others have said the rooms are small but comfortable, clean and with recently renovated bathrooms. The staff at the hotel are exceptionally pleasant and some speak English. It's not too far to walk in to explore the attractive old town and as we were there on Saturday we wandered and did some food shopping at the colourful market. We had a front room but didn't notice that it was noisy. The real highlight is the hotel restaurant which has a good menu and excellent food. However, the locals know this too so it was very busy and you need to book. It is a short distance off the A6 and we stayed there after a day meandering north from Chalon through towns in Burgundy . We wanted to stop before taking on Paris roads and traffic, car rental return ,finding our accommodation and a quick trip to Fontainbleau the next day. It is also a good place for a break after leaving Paris on the A6 following a morning arrival by train or plane, organising car hire and getting out of the city. If accommodation in a well run French family hotel is what you are looking for this is an excellent choice.

“lovely family run hotel”

Stayed for two nights in May. A lovely family run French hotel to stay in, good value for money, basic but clean rooms with recently refurbished bathrooms. Great service, and a lovely garden for an evening drink. Resturant appeared popular with local diners. Only down side is that its located on a fairly busy road which means rooms at the front are a little noisy. Free wi-fi.

“Fabulous food, very friendly personelle, simple clean rooms, good price”

We were in Joigny for a wedding, staying at the Paris Nice for four nights. The town itself - which is historic and attractive - needs but one day to explore on foot...with a great Saturday ( ..smaller Wednesday ..) market. But cycles can be rented from Locaboat ( dont arrive during French lunch hour 12.00-1.30) to explore the rolling countryside out beyond the station and main road. And it is possible to do some extensive hiking in the lovely forested amazingly uninhabited countryside to the north east of the town on the hilly side of the river...however you will need to take walking/cycling maps of the area with you, as no one there has much idea. Should be able to walk and catch a train back from the next town/village with a bit of timetable checking beforehand. The hotel is really a restaurant with delicious food - attracting many locals; (much more scrumptious than the three star restaurant on the river) the hotel is a bit of a side line, but run in a very friendly way by all. However, from Sunday pm until Tuesday breakfast there are NO staff at hand - and no food - and the hotel becomes in essence a rented room, although the 'garden' - really the restaurant eating area- is still there for residents to use. One other thought - it's not a quiet location ..heavy traffic passes by ...but it is a convenient location for travellers.

My wife and I stayed over 1 night after a lcoboat canal holiday.
Small but clean and comfortable. David & Claire run Paris Nice.
David is the chef...unfortunately did not meet him. Would like to have complimented him on exceptional food and reasonable price. Claire was delightfully friendly and helpful as she speaks English. Highly recommend this little hotel and the food was undoubtedly the best we had in France! A real dining experience.
Thank you David & Claire.

“charming little hotel in Joigny”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2005

This hotel is in Joigny, where we spent the night before embarking on a canal boat week on the Nivernais Canal. The hotel is very simple but clean and has a charming garden dining area. The food was fantastic, some of the best we had in France that week. The owners speak English and were very helpful. There was no AC but rooms were otherwise comfortable.
