We spent time in the hotel during a wine tasting trip around Bourgogne and we were very happy. The hotel is situated in the center of the small town of Chagny, it is towards the southern part of the "wine areas", it is a good point from which to explore the southern wine areas, although it is an easy drive even to the more northern regions of Bourgogne. The central town area where the hotel is situated is a picturesque representation of the life of small provincial towns.
The service at the hotel was at the highest level. The room was excellently decorated and comfortable in size, the bathroom and the toilet (separate from each other), were clean and nice, with pink marble on the walls and floor and top level supplied. The finishing touches of the room presentation added to the charm such as the pleasant inscents, the delicious artisan pastries made by the restaurant and placed in the room, and the even the room key, modern variation of old- fashioned, was a great touch.
The restaurant well deserves its Miichelin status. The service was impeccable with the exact amount of attention so that one feels the care without being overburdened. The ambiance was elegantly simplistic and to me its simplicity was not a weakness, but rather a nod to the overall ambiance of the environment in which the hotel is located, it was in tune with the unpretentious rustic mood of the town and the region (while many Michelin starred restaurants are lavishly decorated, it is not a necessity and in this case overly opulent decoration would have felt out of place with the ambiance of the region). We had the tasting menu and were not disappointed. The presentation of every dish was great and the artistry of the cuisine exceptional; a artistic cuisine is not one in which you immediately like everything (in that case it would mean that it is likely not to be different from one's usual routine), but rather it creates new and different tasting experiences, which challenge you to open your mind to unusual combinations of foods and spices, and the learn something new in taste. And the menu we had certainly achieved that expectation and we loved the food. The overall experience was great and I highly recommend Lameloise for a romantic getaway or time with family and friends (not for crying running wild toddlers, however, since they would make other guests less than pleased).
