“Nice Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

I've been on a week stay there as I had a professional training course at the Sub-marine Base - It's a minutes drive from the spot.

My workmate had a car but the Hotel situated in TownCentre has no private Parking - So sometimes it was not easy to carpark. Well that could be the only negative point (if it is...) but the dark spot is Internet connection (No Free Wifi) as the rest is perfect.

The Staff is really kind, polite and very helpful, rooms are clean with Satellite TV.

Internet is charged and I find it really expensive (but it is the average price for Internet which I find expensive in France... In airports, it's the same thing, around 10 Euro for 24 hr or 3 euro per hour !!! )

Lorient is not a busy town so you might get fed up quickly and not know what to do... The shops aren't far away from the Hotel, that's ok !

Food in the Hotel is okay, but being in Bretany, I would recommend you to go to the Varoius Restaurants around... I can't remember the names of a very nice restaurant specialised in seafood ! L'Avenue is also a nice restaurant if you prefer having French cuisine instead of the numerous "creperies bretonnes", pancakes is a speciality in this region!

Next to the Hotel, there's a Pub (Shamrock Pub) - the look inside is just like a foos english / irish pub but not the atmosphere :( If there's any French Ligue1 matches, you can forget watching a Premierleague, even that being Liverpool v/s Manchester Utd.

“Would stay Again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2009

We were lucky to find a room in Lorient as it was the Celtic Festivile, when we got here we could not even get the car near this hotel as all roads were cut off , there was a live music right underneath our window. The windows were double glazed so kept most of the noise out. The rooms I thought were very good for french Standards & would pass for a 4 star in Britain. Very Clean & the staff very friendly, The bathroom was quite spacious and had a bath as well as a shower. But it cost us 140 euros for room only, that was the one thing that let us down

“OK for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2008

I think this is a good hotel for business meetings and for a cocktail drink. Other than that its average.

“Very clean hotel, great breakfast!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2006

The Mercure hotel is very clean and a great value for the cost - 88Euros a night for single occupancy. The breakfast buffet in the mornings is Excellent.

Complaints - The room keys are actual keys and you have to lock it from the outside everytime you leave. I am so used to card keys that this was a bit on the annoying side. My room hada window directly accross the street from a school - and I was on the first floor - so I had to be sure and close the drapes when I changed - a bit annoying too! Also - the toilet and the shower were in two seperate rooms, so I was a bit confused the first time I wanted to use either.

Pros - Breakfast! Bed was very comfortable! TV had plenty of options! Very clean, WIFI.

Overall, in Lorient, I would stay there again as Lorient is such a small town near the coast...no big frills are necessary.

“Comfortable Convenient Choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2004

people found this review helpful

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in July 2004. It is a fairly new business-style hotel with large comfortable rooms and clean, modern bathrooms. The breakfast buffet is served at one end of the spacious lobby, and has not only the usual continental fare (croissants, cold meat and cheese, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee), but also some hot dishes (scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon). The staff is friendly and efficient. The location is very convenient to the marina and the center shopping district, with many nice restaurants within easy walking distance. Parking is available right out front. This certainly is a good choice for visiting Lorient.
